I’ll try asking here instead of General. Sorry for x-posting.
So I don't drive my 5th gen much, so the wipers haven't been used in months -- since the winter, really. Searching didn't seem to match my issue exactly.
Today it was raining, I turn on the wipers and they work just fine, but in the intermittent mode I noticed that they parked, or rested between swipes, in a slightly elevated position -- at first maybe a half inch higher than they normally do. They would complete the down swipe and then would travel up that half inch and stop. Then they would do the same, but stop an inch or two higher, then revert to first scenario after a swipe.
After 10-15 mins they returned to normal and now stop at the regular park location. No weirdness. I've noticed this a few times over the years (maybe a handful of times in 37k miles), but it never lasted more than one swipe. After I got home when this happened today I went out to the truck a couple of times to see if I can recreate this again, but they are working as normal.
So, is this somewhat normal for the park position sensor to bug out and re-adjust or is it being flaky for me and probably will need to be replaced?
