what causes synchros to wear when driving? I am assuming that this happens somewhat just from daily driving, but adding to the effect what kind of drive use accelerates the wear caused? Neut to first sometimes grinds or has trouble slipping in to gear. also seen that lubes can attribute ot better shifting, I found a good thread on here.

Mileage causes wear on everything in your truck.
And for the trans, an owner that doesn't know how to drive a manual properly can accelerate the wear.

If you have lots of play in the shifter it could be the bushing that holds the shifter in place. It is a common issue on older Toyotas. Look at Marlin Crawler web site for an inexpensive, quality, replacement. But note: that is only if you have lots of play in the shifter (wiggles around a lot)

like i always say the g52 and w56 trannys are a dime a dozen and cheap as hell so just get a used one with low mileage (100,000miles or more)

Dime a dozen and cheap as **** are the same thing? If not I got a dime. There is a lot of play but I thought it was a normal thing in this type of transmission and I tell myself not to let me adhd get the best of me. I was riding around yesterday and was light on the throttle but the engine wasn't picking up much. I heard a whining sound in 4th at about 3200 rpms it starts and gets louder as it revs higher. Im trying different driving styles right now to better my control with the 5spd, everytime I do I wish I had an open road with no fenced off land a couple cases of beer, some ganj, and a pretty lady right there, but sadly not the case. First gear has the most wear and its obvious. I dont know what the previous owner did as far as drving habits. I couldnt have done too much in the 500 miles I have drove it.
