Worth Rebuilding Alternator?

Parts come in tomorrow. I'll post pics once it's all in. Ended up getting a custom built Cs144 made in the USA that puts out 140amps, but has a 210amp single bridge rectifier. Can't imagine I'll have any alternator issues for the rest of the life of the vehicle ha.

Your issue is its USA made! LOL.

Mines been working fine. The thing is the alt will never be stressed so it should never go out... And FYI denso makes the GM alternators... So the cs144 is a denso product if I'm not mistaken...

If you buy Denso OEM yes its good, if you buy Denso from parts store, then no its not.

I have had high amp alts made for my Turbo Talon before. I went through three of them from Alterstart. Which is a very well known USA company that makes alternators and starters. Its well known on our turbo cars that they can fail because the alt is right near the super hot large turbo and with turbos that large no heat shield is in place. I finally installed a used OEM alt with 200k miles and that thing lived till I parted the car out for about 3 years. I will stick to OEM even if lower amps.

I should have said it was assembled in the US. It should be an OEM Gm CS144 with the single bridge rectifier upgraded so that there's no chance it'll get overkilled. Puts out the same amps as a stock cs144.

Got the CS144 alternator put in yesterday, finally, after a delay in shipping. I ended up having to replace the stock alternator belt with a power steering belt (ever so slightly longer) so that I could get the belt over the larger alternator pulley on the CS144. Sounds like some people have had to do this and some haven't. Anyhow, I'm getting close to 15 volt output now at idle, and I'm happy with the install.
