It already has the ipod plug on the back. Some of the threads I've seen on T4R.ORG about Scion radios seemed like they had to go through a lot work just to make an ipod connection. If this is plug and play I'm buying it today.

Yes, but it will require trimming. Not a very good price for that one though IMO. Yeah you're right. Just typed in "Scion T1808" on Ebay and I found the same on 30 bucks cheaper.

What tool would I need to trim the edges?

Not sure if it will fit or not, but from what I've seen and read, the Scion radios just plug and play for the most part, maybe a couple splices. For the money you are going to spend on that with shipping and the adapter cable, why don't you just buy a new DD unit? Crutch field sells a few that have direct IPod hookups in the front or back, just as cheap if not cheaper, come with a warranty and all cables needed to install. Plus you won't have to trim the fascia. Just a thought...

Yeah I know what you mean but I want something stock. I live in a questionable neighborhood where I have to park on the street. I don't trust the riff raff that live around me.

Just a dremmel would be needed. I almost went that route, but I didn't like the idea of my center console altered if I chose to go with a different radio in the future. Check out the Clarion CZ501. I just got it and it is nice. Bluetooth works good and it has ipod and aux inputs (although they are only on the front) and the sound is much better than stock. Plus it is ~150 shipped with the pocket and wiring from sonicelectronix.com.

I really want aftermarket but I'm just soooo paranoid. I'm thinking of just biting the bullet and getting an aftermarket head unit. As long as I take the face with me, that should lessen the chances that someone breaks into my truck.

these units (t1808, t1809) look close to stock if that is something you are worried about. it is one of the reasons why I installed a 1809, not to mention the unit and ipod cable together can be had for cheap (~$60). The units are plug-and-play too, so no issues with wiring.

still as SCRunner12 says you have to trim the bezel, which really can be a pain in the a$$ and reduces your options for swapping the radio in the future.

if i could do it all over again I would have saved some more coin and bought a double-din that fit the stock bezel

Yeah if it wasn't for the cutting up the dash, I would have got the Scion radio in a heartbeat. I just decided to get an Alpine headunit and speakers. I just wish it had more clean bass. Don't want a subwoofer though. Could an amp help?
