Would you buy again?

One week owner of a 16 TE. Also first SUV/truck. I wanted a change up from the small fast cars I've been driving the past 10 years. So far I really like the T4R. The only thing I don't like about it right now is the seating pisition and seat comfort. I'm a big guy, 6' 240. I think if I lost 20 pounds, my problems would be solved.

As for power. It gets going just fine for a truck. Having owned M3s and other fast coupes I think if you want a fast car you would no be looking at a BOF SUV. Yes, the T4R would be better off with the GXs V8... btw has anyone done a swap yet?

Living in Massachusetts, I wouldn't have been able to duplicate driving at 12,000 feet in Colorado, or 80 mph highways in Utah.

I did actually read what the rated horsepower was, I guess I just expected it to be "there" when I needed it. I've driven wimpier V6's where the power was more readily available.

My old pickup has a 454 under the hood (only a $600 option in 1997) in a vehicle that weighs a lot more, and still gets 15.5 mpg. You can drive from zero to 90 and not go past 2500 rpm. I got 18.2 driving across the country, mostly highway, mostly speed limit in my 4Runner.
 
My motorcycle has 185 HP and will do 0-60 in 2.7 seconds.

"Fast" is subjective when discussing anything with four wheels, much less an SUV.

However, for all its speed the thing (the motorcycle) ain't worth a shit on a mountain wagon trail and carrying my fishing gear on it is a problem not to mention my beer cooler - and what good is a fishing trip without beer?

Why some people don't get the fact that an SUV is not a dragster I will never understand. You want a "fast" SUV, buy a Porsche Cayenne. Just be careful if you stray beyond the mall parking lot in it. ;-)

Yep. I'd buy another in a heartbeat. No regrets from me.

I've owned a few real pieces of crap in my earlier days so my respect for a non POS runs deep. I've also owned some very expensive machinery from Germany and the 4Runners take a backseat to nobody in the quality, ROI and all around dependability arena's.
 
Yea perfectly fine with the power, I have a go fast car for speed.

I'll end up not buying another 4R and selling this one due to the front bucket seat being the only option. Weird I know but now with a dog again I realize how much more convenient that middle seat is for a pup, and can see that being the reason I change one day.
 
Heated seats next time, although as I said before, remote start can kinda offset that.

The plastic cloth in my 2013 Trail makes your butt itchy on long trips, have to put a cotton towel under.

Slightly pissed about the thin sheet metal taking dings so readily. I have never seen the complaint about the sheet metal waving at high speeds.

(Not meant in a bad way at all)... what are you meaning with “front bucket seat only option”? I don’t know any SUVs or trucks that come with a FRONT middle seat/bench anymore...? Unless you were to buy a truck with a single cab only; I suppose that still exists... yes/no?

They aren't gone yet.
Pretty much every truck I would consider still has a front bench seat option though they are making it more and more "base model" oriented.
Tundra sr5 can come with cloth front bench seat but only with double cab
F150 xlt can come with cloth front bench seat with both the 4 door options but only in grey or tan cloth.

I have an 06 and it seems front middle seats where available in the taco in that time period

I just think it's completely wasted space in a truck to have a floor shifter and that's where my dog wants to sit. Gotta keep the boss happy. Man would I drop what I was doing for a bench seat diesel 17 T4R though

2013 Limited - good but Toyota can do better...

My current rear diff leak notwithstanding, I like the truck quite a bit. To me the biggest niggle is the much noted (but still not addressed) front dive when the auto brake functionality kicks in (way too early).
My intent is to pass my 4runner to my son in five years (he's 11 now), and at that time I'll probably get a Land Cruiser or the Lexus equivalent.
 
Well I've only had the 4Runner for a week now, but I love it. This is my second Toyota, had a Tundra. I would definitely buy a 4Runner again, or even a Tundra.

We test drove a then new 2015 Highlander. Might have been the Platinum? The front seat comfort was really bad. No lower back support. Seats were good to 20 minutes. I have seen the same complaints elsewhere. The middle captain seats were more comfortable than the front seats.
 
On the first month of my 16 TE and there's a lot to love. I really am finding it hard to like the driver's seat though. I'm a big guy, 240lb 6ft, big thighs and I can't get comfortable. I feel the seat cushion it both too low and too short. I've racked the seat up to its highest setting and my head is 3/4 of an inch from the roof. Its better but not great. Whats so weird is that the 2000 LC I was driving before was super comfortable, and these trucks are about the same size. I don't get it. Overall, I don;t know if I'd buy again. I need to find a comfortable position somehow.
 
I really love my 2012 TE but I think if I were to buy anything else it would be new white TRD Pro. Seems like a pretty amazing off-road ready vehicle straight from the factory.
