Would you pay %25 more for a 4runner?

Dude.. there's a 3 million mile Volvo that's 40 years old now.. several other vehicles claim similar titles so not really impressive for a modern day vehicle.
Unfortunately I've noticed US made trucks tend to become loose rattle boxes pretty quick compared to the Japanese built stuff. Fit/ finish isn't the same nor do they age as well either.
US trucks do get nicer infotainment options and the bigger engines which is nice.
As one of the few folks here who owns a Tundra and a 4 Runner - I don’t notice any difference in fit and finish. The 4 Runner driver’s seat has this annoying click whenever you accelerate. I’ve also had the 4R to the dealer to replace the passenger side door seal as it was slightly whistling at speeds above 35 MPH. Took them 5 minutes to pop a new seal in and it’s fine now. I’m sure either one would be the last vehicle I ever “had” to buy if I were willing to do the repairs and live with a very dated vehicle for a few decades - they’re both tanks.
As to the original question, I wouldn’t have spent 25% more for the 4R. But maybe the wife would have. Lol

It's not that all tariffs are always bad, it's that these hamfisted tariffs are bad and no one is calling for them

My neighbor has a 2008 Tundra with 239k miles on it. The only thing other than normal maintenance was he had a problem with the brakes last year he had to spend some money on. Even with all those miles it runs better than my 4runner ever will. I had a 2011 Avalon made in the USA. It had more squeaks/rattles than it should have had with only 29k miles when I traded it on my current 4runner.
Let me guess, these were good tariffs?

I owned a 2010 Tundra and now an 18 4runner. They both are/were excellent build quality to the point where I couldn’t tell a difference.
Without getting too political, tariffs are not inherently good or bad without context. Considering most of what American consumers buy is imported, it is definitely in our best interest to renegotiate with our trade partners. Offers on the table right now are almost irrelevant because they are just posturing. It would probably be wise to reserve judgment until the dust settles.

uh, no, these tariffs are terrible. read my post again, i literally explicitly and clearly say these tariffs are bad in the post you replied to. a trade war is bad and hurts americans.
in regards to "good" tariffs - we have loads of agricultural tariffs (beef, chicken, dairy, vegetables, pork, ettc...) that are okay for example if you believe that it is important to keep a domestic agricultural industry (in which case it's either quotas or tariffs). other countries then reply because they are aren't happy that they have to be competing with whatever american agiruclutral product that is being subsidized in some way so they make a tariff then we work together and make trade deals and find tariff levels that equal things out so no one is too mad. that's how it's supposed to work, this shit is not based on any reason and is just needlessly instigating a trade war that everyone will feel.
