Thats not how things work in the actual world. All this stupidity has been tried b/4 and it didnt work then ,nor will it now. If foreign cars cost 25% more the greedy US corp will raise their price to the same level and you will be paying the tax to help make up the budget shortfall from the tax cuts for the filthy rich. So much winning.

It would put my new ‘19 Pro out of reach that I have been saving for years for! Thanks Trump! I still refuse to buy domestic junk so it would mean I will be driving my old Tundra for like ever.... Also why should makers of domestic junk get any type of break for making the inferior junk they have always made??!

Yea, this is a political discussion. It's relevant to the 4Runner. But it's going to affect every import and export market with equally bad consequences.
POTUS is playing chicken with the world. He's alienating our allies and cozying up the free world's enemies, North Korea and Russia. No good can come of it.
Something's gotta give. This tariff policy is going to be bad for everyone.

Toyota has been making another factory here in the US so no worries. Just means the new 4Runners will be US made.
Should they start making the 4Runner stateside I guarantee quality will go down. The Japanese production lines are super meticulous with a heavy Kaizan going on. I would not want one built here. The Japanese are meticulous and take a nationalistic sense of pride in what they make. It will be the beginning of the end for the 4Runner legacy. Let’s hope this does not happen.
You are absolutely right!!! Let’s hope this debacle once and for all settles the argument that tariffs are always bad and should be eliminated worldwide for a true free trade environment. Maybe you can teach Bernie, Elizabeth , Sherrod and Alexandria this simple fact??????

Did you want a war with North Korea or Russia? I swear the left is hell bent on having worse, deteriorating relations with hostile nuclear countries. Trump has done a pretty decent job deescalating things there.

I don't think you folks read the post above by 1jzgte. Light trucks and SUVs imported from Japan have been subject to a 25% tariff for years. If you have a 4Runner, you've already paid 25% to the US Treasury. The new tariffs proposed by the GOP apply to automobiles, not light truck and SUV imports.

Anyway yes we are currently paying a 25% tariff on the 4Runner. Don’t really want another 25% but I have a feeling it won’t come to that.
