Wrangler rt/s

The runner needs new shoes. I have no experience with wrangler rts but I am sure many of you do. I have 2 pretty much brand new rts tires and plan to buy 2 more to replace my worn tires. They seem to get pretty good reviews online. Is this a bad idea? I know they are original equipment on 4 runners. Should I try something else? I like the idea of using the 2 I already have and only buying 2 new tires. The truck is 95 % street, occasional winter snow, and a few camping trips and beach trips a year.

Give me some real world experience or convince me otherwise.

They were original on mine. Worst tire I have ever owned. Loved to hydroplane in a millimeter of water. Hopefully they have changed the design since 1999 because those things were dangerous.
 
My rts were complete shit. They rode smooth, but the minute the pavement got wet, they were sketchy as hell.

IMO it would be well worth the money to upgrade to something better. A different street tire would be fine if you don't wheel your truck, but you'll be glad you got those crappers off.

If you're considering an all terrain, I've been happy with my cooper at3s. Although i haven't had a chance to take them off road yet, I can say they're rock solid on wet/dry pavement.
 
I think the design has changed, I just got a new set from Walmart on sale for $500 mounted and balanced. They are quiet on the highway and work just fine for the light offloading I do and DD duties, no problems in rain either. By no means do I think they are great tires but they get the job done at a certain price point. I had Primewell HT's before and they cost me about the same $ as the Wranglers, but these ride better, are quieter and look better.
 
Wrangler RTS are goodyear (throwaway) tires. It's what many dealerships put on new vehicles to get them off the lot.

By no means do they represent who goodyear is, there are other tires by goodyear that will be better for you. ATS are a step up and do very well for most people.

Just do not waste your hard earned mony on the crappy RTS, they serve a purpose and only one purpose maybe two. They make a good spare for just the average joe that doesn't go off road, second they are, once again a tire dealers use to get cars off the lot nothing more.
