So a couple of days ago I was T-boned and rolled. Needless to say, in words of Hall and Oats, She's gone! Does anyone have any experience buying from Servco in Hawaii. I'd want another Trail or TRD Pro to replace this one, but my experience is only buying in the mainland. Thanks

Servco is famous for the "this is the price,and that's it take it or leave it" kinda deal. Every toyota dealership in Hawaii is servco except maui toyota so anywhere you go, you'll get the same price. Unless you have someone that can get you a family discount which is like 2k off. Toyota is the most popular brand in Hawaii so if you don't buy it, someone else will and they know it.

Absolutely hate Servco! They tried to get me on a new Corolla a few decades ago! Would not budge on the price, would not give any more than 500 bucks for my two vehicles I was trading in (that were in great condition and not very old at all), and acted like my wife and I were "just some damned kids". They tried the same thing with my dad years before that too, he ended up buying a mopar with no hassles.
It may actually be cheaper to buy from Oregon (no sales tax in the state) and ship to honolulu. I know a few friends and family who would literally fly to SoCal, buy a vehicle, spend the week driving it to Vegas and around SoCal, then put it on a boat to Honolulu, and even with the cost of hotels and gas and flight, would still be cheaper than buying direct in Honolulu!
Too bad you'll have to ship to S. Korea from HNL, that's a LONG transit time to get another 4 runner, especially if if you do get it from the West Coast.
Like Izzy said, between Toyotas and Hondas, they probably make up 80% of all cars on the road there. Servco's got the market cornered and they know they can get whatever they want for their vehicles. Tell 'em you're shipping it out of the country and I guarantee you they will try to take you to the cleaners!!!!

Its in Kapolei right now at Insurance Auto Auctions. I don't think its up for sale yet still working the claims process.

I started talking to dealers in So Cal after I got the feeling from my first call with Servco today that the prices were set and they weren't really wanting to work with it.

Hmmm, looks like big island toyota is not part of servco, I'd at least call 'em and see what they are willing to do. Much cheaper to fly to Kona or Hilo than SoCal, and if they do Costco pricing, might just be cheap enough to do that and ship back to honolulu!

If you do purchase from Servco in Mapunapuna, I've worked with Darrick Kaya. He's a family friend of mine. He makes everything go smoothly in our experiences. Also, my friends have gone with MacKenzie and have nothing but praise for him too. Best of luck!

You'll never get the best price on a Toyota in Hawaii. Servco is the distributor for all Toyotas in Hawaii so even if they don't own Maui Toyota or Big Island Toyota, they get their cut anyway. Besides price, imo they are the most honest and trustworthy car dealer in Hawaii.
Good luck finding a trail, TEP or TRD Pro. Seems like they bring in 90% or so SR5s, some Limiteds and just about 0 of the others. My guess is that if you need 4WD, look on the Big Island and then Maui. They sell a lot there. Not so much on Oahu. Our malls here are nicely paved.

Kaimuki Toyota always did well by me then ship young brothers to Maui but
bought and shipped a few cars from mainland
also the lexus dealer on Maui was awesome to work with
sadly buying cars in the islands sucks big time in general but always try to buy local but rarely could !!!!
really think it comes down to the dealer and as all folks know Hawaii is about who you know !!!

I'd agree with that, Kaimuki Toyota is probably the easiest to buy from, they seem to be just slightly more laid back and not so much high maka maka!
I guess the one I went to is no longer there, looks like it moved over by Ft. Shafter area. Used to be they were on Kapiolani across from the old Star Bulletin building.
And I had a feeling that Servco still supplies the non-servco dealerships with their vehicles, but its up to the dealership for pricing. If they wanna mark them down, that's their choice. Servco sets their numbers in stone though, so any servco-owned dealership will probably not have any flex in price of vehicles.
This is why I suggested following gotblika's advice in calling big island toy, if they do costco pricing, they obviously have enough flexibility with pricing to work a deal.
No, it won't be nearly as cheap as getting one from a big dealership in SoCal, but they might be able to get it down to the same or just slightly higher than the mainland price plus shipping (think its around a grand now? Could be low on that though) and another 500 bucks to fly out, as well as another 4 or 500 bucks for hotel and rental car.
So, if their pricing is more than 3 or 4 grand higher than mainland pricing, and you can afford the time to fly out and hit a few dealerships in SoCal, you get what you want and get to drive it around for a bit in the mainland before you ship it home, as well as pay for the cost of doing this! I'd say its a win-win situation right there!
