And this jumper scheme and leaving the plug unplugged makes it super easy to return to stock with no damaged wires or evidence at all.

I just did the mod on my 2007 Sport.
I used the Blue Splice block.
Took all of 5 minutes and no more blinking light.
As others have mentioned look for the pink wire with BLACK stripe not pink with blue stripe.

If I'm not mistaken there's a very small watch type battery in each of the sensors in the tires/rims, and I don't think you can replace them, no other battery/s that I'm aware of.

Thanks to the OP and poster 196, williamteichroid, I disabled the light on the 2008 4runner after a wheel sensor died. The 2008 and later apparently have a different size and color plug (small black - 2008 vs larger white - 2007) The Dealer wanted $320. to fix one wheel and Firestone wanted $130.00.
I jumpered the black female plug's pink/black wire terminal to the maroon/black wire terminal with 20 gauge brass wire. This gauge goes in nice and snug. Got the wire at ACE hardware. No cutting or using the Scotch-type connectors. I did not reconnect the plug to the box (obviously).
Works like a charm. I can reverse it by pulling out the jumper wire.

Did the blue scotch connector and it worked for a couple days, similar to just a reset..headed out for the smaller 'red' version tomorrow..I'd be very leery of unplugging the main connection to jump the TPMS feature..just thinking there's a bunch of wires that are left unconnected, they wouldn't be there for no reason.

Did mine the jumper/leave unplugged way several years ago, no issues.
About the seat belt light...maybe wear your seat belt? Or are you saying it's on even if you're buckled up?

I recently just purchased an 04 Toyota 4 Runner for my son. The previous owner put Fuel aftermarket wheels with non Toyota sensors. Needless to say the light comes and goes at it's convenience. The light is very annoying as are any regardless of what they are for. I decided to save the $400-$500 to replace with Origianl Toyota sensors and try this bypass method. It worked awesome and the light is off! I also have the original tires with sensors that the previous owner so graciously gave me also. Think we are just going to sell those and apply the money saved on this project for some more upgrades. Appreciate the information made available once again.

Finally got around to doing this to my ‘04. I’m planning to get new wheels and tires anyway, and don’t want to spend the money for the stupid sensors, but coincidentally one , or more of the sensors failed anyway, causing the light to stay on despite the pressures being perfect in all the tires. I bought quick splices, but once it was apart, I decided to unplug the harness, and make a jumper so that it’s easily reversible should I, or someone else want to restore the functionality. Now the lights off, and I’m all set to just get standard stems with my new wheels. :rockon:

Scotch locks are literally the worst possible connection on the planet, DO NOT USE THEM! I ran a car audio shop for 10 years, all techs were warned to never use these connectors and any tech caught using these connectors was fired on the spot. How many people here have had them fail or not even work to begin with and had to go back to fix them? Just strip some of the sheathing back on each wire, twist them together, tape them up with a quality tape like the 3M super 33, and you're done. If you want to do it even nicer, cut both wires, strip the now 4 pieces of wire back 1/2", slip a piece of heat shrink tube over the 2 on the harness side, solver all wires together, and heat shrink them. This would take slightly longer but this is the best possible connection you can make.
Ok, this is driving me nuts. Supposedly this is an incredibly easy mod...but where the heck is this black plastic panel under the glove box? can someone post a pic? of the thing when it's closed? and the screw? I'm not seeing anything that seems likely under my glove. 2005 t4r.
Yup, I definitely don't have that black plastic panel. I can see where that screw *would* go, but the panel itself isn't there. Just the bottom of the AC unit. Anyone have any idea where the TPMS box might be? I don't see anything that obviously looks like that orange box in the other photos :/

Found it. It's hidden off behind some trim on the right-hand side of the passenger foot-well. On the left-ish side of the first pic, you can see the hole where the screw for the black plastic panel everyone talks about *would* go, if it were actually here.
