Thanks so much for this. i was just considering replacing my 2 front sensors where the batteries were dead. TPMS has never benefited me and only cost me money. This was done in less than 10 minutes. I have an '06 that was produced in November 2005. Wire description in the original post was accurate. I used a blue connector (only one I had in the garage) and it worked just fine. ** Now wondering if this can be done on a gen5 2010

I run around 46 PSI in my tires and it broke my tire sensors and I hated seeing that light on all the time. I'm OCD about checking my pressure anyway, so I just went ahead and did the bypass. Thanks!

I just to make folks aware of a low cost alternative compared to a dealership if you want to keep using the TPMS system. I bought some wheels from Craigslist with no TPMS sensors. So I bought 4 Denso 550-0103 TPMS Sensors from Amazon for $32 each. Costco mounted tires that I supplied for $15 per tire onto my 2007 4runner which included removing old wheels/tires, umount old tires from old wheels, dispose of old tires, install/program TPMS sensors from Amazon, mount/balance new tires on new wheels, and install new wheels/tires on my rig. Costco would not take the old wheels which I am giving away free. I know that the TPMS is functioning because my wife got a flat 2 days later and the TPMS light alerted her. Costco fixed it for free. The TPMS probably saved the tire and my wife changing the tire on side of the road. She went straight to Costco when the TPMS light alerted her while on her way to the grocery store. The tire was too low pressure to drive on after reaching Costco. However, I can relate to this thread. I am the original owner of a 1995 Toyota pickup which does not have any of the new fangled gadgets... except fuel injection. Oh wait...fuel injection is no longer considered new technology. 
And yes...the 1995 Toyota pickup still starts on the first crank.

On my 06,the pink wire & white/black wire combo did NOT turn off my solid pressure light. was there an update I missed for my year? Are the wires the same color?

I have an 06 as well. Did this mod last night with the pink white and white black wires and it works perfectly. Make sure you don't have the BLUE pink wire(they look nearly identical). Once you have double checked that make sure you have solid connection. I used the splice connector "Scotchlok" and I crimped down.HARD....if you have the same connector make sure the blde is getting good contact.

Hi. SO I just checked & I don’t have a pink & white wire. rather a pink wire with a black stripe & a pink wire with a blue stripe. I tapped into the pink/black & it doesn’t work.

Light finally off!!! I had the right connections,I just had to wiggle around the scoche to dig into the wire.& made sure I crimped it right!

word of caution when attempting this mod
Hi all, I attempted this mod today on my 2008 4runner. But when I turned the car on, the ABS and brake lights came on, and I couldn't shift out of parking. It totally freaked me out!
I tried disconnecting the battery and resetting the ECU and nothing worked. At the end it turned out that I somehow blew a 10A fuse in the fuse box under the dashboard while attempting to jump the two cables. I did not disconnect the battery before attempting this mod.
Putting this out there in case it happens to someone else .

Did this a year ago in my '05, worked great, no issues at all.

I may do this eventually but at the moment it doesn't really bother me

Finally remembered to do this on my 07 Sport. Only took 5 minutes. I chose to use a small paperclip to jump the 2 wires in case I/future owner ever want to reverse it.
- Did not need to disconnect the battery
- Unplugged yellow-taped harness (no need to cut the tape)
- Located pink/black and white/black wire
- Inserted end of paperclip into the tiny holes that correspond with the pink/black and white/black wire.
- Covered fully in electrical tape just to be sure.
- Left unplugged.
Solid TPMS dash light is OFF!

After 5 years I finally did this.. in the 30 seconds it took me to do it.. im pretty mad I waited 5 years..
1 screw under glove box.. unwrap yellow tape... unwrap black wire cover.. splice white/black stripe and pink/black stripe with wire merge clip.. reinstall screw.. done..
