I'm looking to buy a 4th Gen 4runner. Probably an 2003 or 2004. It's going to be a first car for someone in my family so I'm only looking to spend around $10,000-11,000.

Let me know if you are interested in selling yours or find one online that might be good.

I'm willing to travel a few hours from Greenville, SC to get it.

Thanks.

There is a guy in Aiken that had one for sale, I was going to buy his around the start of April but he couldn't get the time. I ended up having to fly to Wilmington, NC to buy mine. But he's close, its a black sr5 and i had him at 10K for an 05 with 125K miles. also there was a dealer in like Orlando or Tampa, who i got on ebay and he was offering me 9750, with douche fees came to walk out at 10.7K with under 100K miles. There was also a guy in Savannah or Charleston with a white 06, it had more miles, like 140, but he was a travelling salesman and it looked good for his cost of 11k.

I say good luck, i spent 3 weeks scouring the southeast looking for a good 4th gen in this price range. I had one dealer actually tell me that HIS cost for an 04 limited was 17.5, worst business man ever. I bought my 03 limited with 135 on the clock for 10.5. best of luck.

quick tip: atlanta is the number 1 city in volume of car sales in the world, prices are jacked up here. From my research, limit your searches to owner sellers around here and SC and FL, they have the most reasonable pricing.

The person I'm buying it for doesn't want one. I can't really blame them. As a owner of a 3rd Gen I can say that I really like them, but it's always nice to have something newer.

Thanks for the advice newbiemw. Where were you looking? Craigslist, dealer sites, etc...?

ya, CL. use searchtempest to search all CL sites at once. its an easy to use and non-commercial website.

i also was checking autotrader and cars.com like every 6 hours. if a hot price comes up you are going to be fighting the scumbag used car salesmen. however like i said, a majority of the people you are going to run into are belligerently staunch on getting KBB. you may be lucky, and if it happens then all the better... but my fair warning is be patient with this price point. Not everybody (nobody) has an MBA and understands market valuations. like i said, it took me 3 weeks of HEAVY daily scouring to find one.

I'm also certain that there are a few in Knoxville (go vols!) at Allstair autos, who were pretty steadfast in their pricing. dealers. but they have em, depending on your time frame.

also, a hot tip, when searching CL, be sure to do 2 searches with and without spacing. 4runner vs 4 runner.

Thanks so much. I didn't even know about that site. It looks like it could be really helpful.

I already saw some some on Atlanta Craigslist that where pretty close to what I was looking for, with low miles too. It seems like all the ones around where I live have over 130,000+ miles.

Looks good. There are generally nice cars in Farmville/Greenville. It's right next to East Carolina University, about 45 minutes from me.

Nice. It looks like a steal from what I can tell. We put a deposit on it and are going to go look at it this weekend. I just hope there isn't anything wrong with it that the pictures aren't showing.

We drove 2-3 hours down to Atlanta last weekend to look at a "very nice" 4runner. Turned out to be pretty trashy. That was a long ride home. Hoping this one is better.

That's what I figured. :) I think it's a one owner too, so I assume it was driven near Farmville...which should mean no rust.

Oh I can guarantee if it was from around Farmville AND not a 4WD it's probably extremely clean. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out. :)
