WTB: Gen 3, $5,500 Budget - Willing to Travel

Hey guys, new to the 4Runner world. Looking for a Gen 3 4X4 to build into an overland rig. Planning on a roadtrip to Mexico this summer. I am located in Memphis, TN but willing to travel for the right truck. Have searched Craigslist high and low with no luck as of now. Hoping y'all can help. Would prefer a Southern/Southwestern rig with documented maintenance.

Thanks for the spot Herculean. I asked if he had any pictures of the undercarriage. The only thing that concerns me about rigs from snowy locations is the rust issue.

Saw that one as well definitely sold quick as it was priced low for the options in the Denver market. Tough for us out of towners to really negotiate and make moves in the strong markets. You gotta literally be browsing cl in the airport with cash in hand ready to go.

That is so true. I've made offers on a few good looking 4Runners but there is enough interest locally that most owners don't bother with the hassle of an out of town sale.

I'll give it a shot

I got a 98 with 157k miles. All drive belts were done but the previous owner. It has a clean car fax and it's always been in California. The previous owners lived 10 miles away from me.

Recently I swapped out the cloth interior with limited seats. Interior is clean. I also switched out the 98 head lights with 02 headlights. I'm thinking of buying new tires by next week for it but the ones it has are still pretty good. I also replaced a fender that the previous owner damaged.
