You should see the laws they are passing with this a ss wipe named Yee & De Leon. Ammo permits , no lead in ammo, and such. I called DeLeon's office last week and told him that since I go hunt Az & gamble in Vegas I will be more than happy to donate to their states coffers by buying my ammo there. And there was not a damn thing his stupid law could do to prevent that. And many others will do the same.

My kids had a Tae Kwon Do seminar in Vegas this past weekend and I bought 5,000 rounds of 7.62X39 and asked the cashier to take my picture with receipt in hand and i had my ipad with a picture of DeLeon and me standing there flipping him off, then I emailed him the picture. Called him on Wednesday asked him if he got my picture . He did not find it funny.

So I don't really get how upset people are about the new gun laws in CO.

Yes they are going to implement background checks and a 15 round limit. I don't think it is the end of the world. I also see a lot people on this thread who don't actually live in CO, myself included. It would be nice to hear from someone who lives there on why this new law is so bad.

Personally I'm for some reasonable limits on guns such as no-one can buy an M-60 or background checks. But I also realize that an AR-15 with a 30 round clip is not in any way an M-60. I'm not anti-gun however like some people on this forum.


Below is a table of the laws in CO. From a gun ownership perspective it looks like you have it pretty good.

[x] castle doctrine
[x] stand your ground laws
[no] Statewide assault weapons laws like NY


I don't support an assault weapons ban or blame guns for the mass shootings. The a-hole who shot up columbine also set bombs which something M.Moore failed to mention in his anti-gun movie. Also I know the anti-gun statistics just don't pass muster. Of the 30k "gun deaths" a year over 2/3 are suicides and the rest are from handguns.

We could do a lot more to lower that 30k number by helping people who need mental health attention AND working to end poverty (something we are not doing now).

I pretty much agree with you on everything here. The problem is most of us feel that "reasonable" gun control laws are just the next step before they tighten things up more. And it's not just paranoia....many gun control advocates will readily admit that.

Second is the fact that none of these laws would have prevented the shootings that inspired them. I understand people's frustration and desire to feel like they did something to respond to these tragic shootings, but in the end it's just an emotional response more than a logical one.

Lastly, I think the Republicans/ pro-gun Dems lost a lot of credibility letting this die after it failed in the Senate. They need to offer alternative/ effective legislation aimed at the real causes of violent crime. By just moving on and doing nothing, they look like jerks that don't care. It makes gun-rights advocates look bad. Many of us say to focus on mental health and pre-existing laws instead of gun control, yet pro-gun legislators do nothing to address that. This just leaves the door open for more attacks on our rights when the next nut-job goes homicidal.

I have heard that some gun/ammo companies in NY are moving as well. I don't remember who but a friend was telling me about it. I hope that any gun/ammo company in a state that passes ridiculous laws are able to move. There are plenty of states that are offering tax breaks to companies that move there. At least magpul is allowing most of their employees to relocate with them. You gotta love a company that has the backbone to move out AND take their employees with them!

Yeah but it sounds like most aren't moving with the company. It's sad they have to suffer, but it's good they have time to make arrangements.

I was starting to think Magpul would wait and see what would happen after the next elections, but it's good to see them standing up for their beliefs... our beliefs.

It's a slow move as they said it would be another 12 to 15 months to fully move out. It sucks to lose their business but they had no choice.

Last night there was a bit about this on the news and any employee that wants to move with the company has to re-apply for their job. So much for a company standing behind their employees. The town of Erie is growing rapidly and the loss of these jobs will have little affect on the town. I'm all for principle but it's odd that they are moving headquarters to Texas and mfg to Wyoming. My guess is they're getting some good tax breaks and like most corporations are focussed mostly on their bottom line.

Tax breaks were a large incentive to leave as they were kinda hinting around before any laws changed but with those gun laws in place it just didn't seem like good business when they can't sell their products to residents.

I'd be interested to know if any existing employees were actually turned down. I can understand making employees reapply. It's also a good opportunity to make sure they have the best individuals in each position and being in new locations expand the talent pool. I also wouldn't be surprised if the associated tax breaks required them to add local jobs.

I think with any major change, you have to re-evaluate everything to make sure you are making the best decisions. Hell, when I moved here, I re-evaluated all of my expenses and thinned out our possessions.

The bottom line, imo, is that Colorado had home field advantage and every opportunity to keep Magpul where they started. They chose misguided and arbitrary politics over economics. I hope voters are paying attention.

Just watched the news and apparently the DOT has given up on 420 mile markers which disappear as fast as they are replaced. Now they're replacing them with 419.99 mile marker signs.

God forbid a company be focused on their success and bottom line.

The fact is Magpul said they would leave CO unless this legislation was killed off because they didn't agree with the changing law. They didn't feel it was right for their employees to be manufacturing a product they themselves couldn't buy. The CO government gave them concessions to continue manufacturing there, but stuck to the ban on in state sale. Magpul stuck to their guns and their beliefs and packed up. I guess the CO government is fine losing out on the tax revenue generated by an $85,000,000 a year company.

Pissed about people losing jobs? Sure blame the company and not the state that decided to go full retard this past legislative session. That makes sense.

Part of their reasons for moving to 2 locations have to do with tax breaks, as well as having the least amount of impact on production and supply.

All it takes to effectively ban guns when background checks are 100% required is to defund the background checkers. How easy would that be for a slight majority.

I totally agree with the heart behind universal background checks, but the implementation is too easily abused.

Good luck to them on the repeal, I was sad to see my home state heading down this road, but I'm hopeful they can pull themselves back out.
