wtf Colorado?

Are you saying that our founding fathers would unanimously agree that there is no limit to what arms could be owned either during their times or currently? I'm not trying to put words in you mouth, but I am trying to understand your point more specifically.

Yes, that is what I am saying.

If we did not have the arms equivalent to the tyrannical government at the time, we would have never won our Independence.

Our fore fathers (when they wrote the Constitution) wanted a way for its people to protect themselves from a tyrannical government, thus the 2nd amendment.

But we didn't have the right until after the revolutionary war. Moreover, we copied, to a substantial extent, the bill of rights from the English.

Are you reading what your write? That is why they made the the 2nd amendment as nothing existed at the time.

To be fair, the English version was written with the sole intent of self defense. The US version expanded that to secure a free State.

You're right, and equally or more importantly, ours was for all the people and not just a class of people.

So heat of the moment, moving targets, or simple bad aim (or any of the dozens of other things that can come up) remove the right to defend yourself... and because you woke up your neighbors. I'm done with you... you are clearly trolling.

Geez. This was tongue-in-cheek at least partly.

You get my drift. If you can't hit your adversary on 15 tries, you should have a shotgun.

WTF.

If the government doesn't fear its people, then the people are doomed.

Lets say that in your perfect world, there are no arms, and you relied solely on the government for protection.

Lets say that President does an executive order and takes all your property to be shared with people who have none.

Let say that you protest and take this to court (appointed by judges from the president) and the court rules that the executive order is constitutional.

Are you going to gather your peace love cohorts and protest in the street. Thus, the government will mow you down with machine gun fire because they thought you were terrorist by terrorizing the public with your protest.

Your screwed.

15 rounds leads to 10 rounds which leads to 5 rounds which leads to 1 round and finally to NO rounds allowed.

Never said I was agains arms. Own all the guns you want. Just do background checks and restrict magazines.

You live in unbelievable fear, champ. Good luck with your personal war against our govt which apparently is coming to get you.

Sacrifice -

There are some dumb people on this forum. If AWB or magazine restriction saves one innocent killing then it would all be worth it...

That is bull shite.

How many of our forefathers died trying to free us from a tyrannical government.

I love when people mention our "forefathers" and think they know what they intended back in the 1800's. Comical.

Who know's wtf our "forefathers" were thinking in the 1800's.

Maybe the industrial revolution followed by the Civil war.

So because you're limited to 15 rounds and a background check you think your rights are being violated??

If you're a normal person with nothing to hide and a decent shot what's your beef?

Grow up you malcontent.

Here we go.

I am a normal person with a normal VP job. I pay my tax, run a company and Served my country in Desert storm. I am by most accounts normal.
do I need more than 15 rounds? Well in most cases 3 will do. But it has nothing to do with do i need 15 rounds. The issue is, if I own magazines with more than 15 rounds and get caught with them, I go to jail. This legislation turns tax paying hard working Americans into criminals, for what?

How fast will your car go? Would you cry if the Government limited vehicle speed to 55mph on ALL vehicles to control driving related deaths (a larger cause of death in the US than guns by a massive margin)?

This is like a tug of war, and giving few inches now, can lead to a massive overtaking in the future. No country that has ever disarmed it's people have been better for it. NOT ONE.

You DO NOT have to be-pro gun to be pro-liberty. You can be pro-liberty and not pro-rights. Just as in days gone by, the disarmed always end up standing behind the armed for protection. I have stood in harms way for you before, and I will do it again if you need me, regardless of how little you care about me.

For the record he made no assumption of what they were thinking FYI. Just the fact that regardless of any personal agenda thousands died so we can live free of an oppressive government. You do not have to "know" what they were thinking, they were kind enough to jot a few notes down for us...ever heard of the constitution or the declaration of independence. TRUE, it does not say anything about what kinds of weapons, or the capacity of ammo, but the intent is clear; we the people make the call, not the government.

Let us all be clear about this.
there are people that simply are uneducated and "want them guns"
there are people who are uneducated who do not care
there are people who are educated and know that this is just a pawn's move
there are people who are educated that think "it's just a pawn"
we should all be able to agree the game does not end when knight takes pawn....there will be more moves to follow. :flame:

The representatives that the people of Colorado have put in place have made a decision.

Will this have any effect on crime rates? Time will tell, but DC, California, and Illinois all have strict gun laws in place. If memory serves correct it has not helped them. :hippie:

What economic effect will it have as well? Might not be the best time to tell a very successful CO business to go move somewhere else http://www.itstactical.com/centcom/news/will-magpul-be-forced-to-move-with-the-

I would love to see Magpul leave CO and come here to Southern Virginia, we need the jobs!

Correct on all accounts - except there's still time to defeat this if people speak up. :usa2:

Listen Jack..... Our "forefathers" may have been wise FOR THEIR DAY but I'm sure they hoped and prayed that the people who influence their country 150 yrs later would institute change required in their day.

The society YOU LIVE IN and the citizens YOU LIVE WITH asked for this. Our govt that you all fear is just a reflection of what's being called for. To do nothing is a failure on their part. Many think it's not nearly enough so be happy with the compromise and the small reasonable step taken that are NOT compromising your rights except in your own slanted minds.

.... And I do not agree with the statements and suggestions that came from Joe Biden yesterday. It's not at all his place to say those things to the millions who have their varied reasons for owning guns no matter the type.

You don't think most criminals steal guns to commit crimes? Put the starbucks down, take off your snuggie, and wake up. If I wanted to commit a robbery, why would I go buy a gun that is gonna be linked to me, and commit a crime with that gun. I'm gonna go down the street to my boy who knows a guy with the hookup. I pay $100 for a gun with the serial number scratched off, go do my dirt, and ditch the piece. Not linked to me in anyway. The first mistake people make is to think all criminals are dumb. Most criminals arent the clowns on Home Alone.

Um...no, I don't think they steal guns, because 80% of the guns I take from the people I arrest were legally obtained. Look up what the ATF says about the same thing - I think their stats are even lower. And like I said, there are way too many legal guns out there, anyway. Criminals will generally do what's easiest and involves the least risk, in my experience.

And yeah, criminals ARE generally pretty stupid people. I deal with 'em all the time. That's why they're criminals, to begin with. The "smartest" ones are those with the sense to ask for an attorney and keep their mouths shut, but that's about as "smart" as most get. And even then, it's usually only because they've been arrested so many times that they know better. I have yet to arrest a criminal mastermind and doubt I ever will. They generally only exist in Hollywood.

Go down the street to "your boy" and get a weapon with the serial numbers filed off? I suggest you stop forming opinions based on what you see on TV.

Well listen here Frank....:jump:

sooo you don't agree with what a leader thinks that was chosen by a society you live in.....how does your logic work?

This is what people don't get.

Without the second amendment, all the others wouldn't exist.

The second amendment was not set up for sportsman or for home protection. It was set up to protect us from the government.

What good is 15 rounds if your adversary has twice as many.

It was also set up at time when our country was in a very real danger of being invaded by another world power with the capability to do so. There were several. And on top of that, there was a huge, unsettled, and largely-unexplored frontier to contend with.

You have to look at it in context. Amazing that you seem to have an inability to do that and at the same time, come into this thread calling people "dumb" simply because they're willing to be inconvenienced in order to save lives.

The fact of the matter is that in the late 1700's, guns were tools, and that's all. Most people didn't "collect" them, there weren't gun stores, gun shows, and guns weren't romanticized like they are today. The latter is mainly due to the fact that the population - which was a drop in the bucket to what we have today - didn't have Hollywood to push everyone's buttons about bad guys with guns, heroes with guns, guns saving the day, etc. Guns in colonial America had about the same "cool factor" as a set of pliers.

These are also things which many people "don't get," (or choose not to), mainly because it would involve some kind of personal sacrifice. And in a selfish, gun-romancing society, that's an uphill battle.
