WTF is this??

Found this lying around disconnected near the fuse box on my 93 4Runner V6.

some sort of sensor did you trace the wiring back any to see where it leads ?

yeah, it splices into two. One side goes to the positive terminal on the battery (it has a 15 amp fuse) and the other wraps along the firewall into the dash somewhere.
I haven't found where in the dash it goes though...

I do have a little knob next to the steering wheel that pulls out to allow the engine to start. If the knob is deactivated, the engine won't even crank. Do all 4Runners come with these or was it a safety feature the previous owner installed? Maybe this is having to do with it?

No, it's not on all 4Runners.
 
whatever it is it's definitely not stock, if it's gold plated it did'nt come factory, funny enough I don't think I've ever seen factory gold plated parts in any vehicle...
