I have a 2003 Sport with about 118K on it. The X-Reas system still seems to be riding fine, but i was curious to see how many miles you guys were getting before it went out, if it has gone out on you? If it did finally go out on you what made you realize it was failing? 95% of my driving is on road, so there has been very little stress put on it.

Mine had over 150k on it when I ditched it, still worked great best I could tell.

I'm dumping mine soon. I have never been in a car whose suspension and driving dynamics are so influenced with temperature.

No doubt. I can tell it isn't quite as tight as it was when i got it, but for as many miles as it has it still rides pretty good. I like the X-Reas, but will be upgrading to some better shocks later.

I've got a bit over 130K on mine with no leaks. I can tell it's getting old, and will hopefully be able to afford a full suspension system next year.

I have 103k on mine and it works great, I am probably gonig to switch it out in the next 20k miles

When it does go, I'm gonna replace the entire thing with new suspension so I can get the lift I want without using only spacers.

My X-Reas failed at 138,000 km. There was a leak in the system - in the line behind the Driver’s Side Centre Control Absorber. Leak was likely caused by corrosion of the line due to road salt used up here during our Canadian winters.

Fluid that had dripped onto the driveway was the first indicator of some sort of problem. As more fluid leaked out of the system, the suspension became worse.

I removed the entire X-Reas system (too costly to replace), and installed the standard SR5 suspension (to keep it relatively stock).

Thanks for all the replies. That gives me a better idea of the life span. Since I am mostly on the road, it should be good for a while.... cool.

I have 52,000miles on mine with no leaks but my Toytec ultimate lift is here now so I will be ditching the Xreas.

+1 about not buying another T4R with XREAS. Both the XREAS and the Rear Air Suspension have failed on my Limited ... so much for fancy bells and whistles on the top model. Had I wanted an SR5 I would have bought one originally.

I think X-REAS is sweet. It just gets a bad wrap because of issues with line corrosion in the climates that tend to get more salt.

Being able to change lanes sharply and precisely and take wide sweeping turns faster than most cars is well worth the ~$1500 option IMHO. This coming from someone who uses his truck 99% of the time on a road. Also have a pretty curvy commute home

Overall I don't think it is a bad system for on road trucks. But if you are off road a lot, or are planning on lifting, it is probably a waste of money. Like Offroad Me said, it seems like the areas that have salty road conditions really take a toll on the system, which is unfortunate. Since I am mostly on the road, I do like the handling aspects of it. I just wanted to see how much life people were getting out of it and what the signs of it failing were.

It is sweet, when it works.
I don't know about the US, but they wanted $1500 just to replace one actuator and line (drivers side).
Imagine what happens when you get a leak on the other side...then a shock leaks..then a sensor craps out. Get my drift? It's a dealer only system that would probably cost upwards of $5000-6000 to repair (completely) at the dealer.
It's not alone though...We have a sweet dealer only exhaust manifold issue too...and the cables to the moonroof are nice as well!
Options are great, but they shouldn't cost 1/2-1/3 of the value of the vehicle to replace at 100k miles.
