XenonDepot HID vs LED, initial photo. (Pics reposted)

There is a screw right above the headlight that goes down through the plastic cover. I used a broader head screwdriver but it's actually a torx bit or something of that nature. It was just hard to estimate how far to go. I put a line on my garage door for factory setting and just put them down an inch or so at 5ish feet away(definitely not scientific) but it seems to be about perfect. Not blinding people sitting behind them at stop signs but still throws out a lot better than stock for sure. No more getting flashed when not expecting it.

When I did this in my FJ Cruiser, I did the same thing. I put my car about 20 feet from the garage door, and marked the OEM light with masking tape. Then I put in the HIDs, and they were a bit higher. I turned them downwards until it matched the OEM mark. I never once got flashed.

Do you mind taking a photo of this screw? I am picking up my '14 T4R SR5 in two days and will be installing my 5000k HID kit. Would like to know exactly which one it is, so I can adjust my lights accordingly and not get flashed. Is it that simple - to just turn a screw and the headlights go down? Is this screw specifically for this reason? Thanks

I just want to reiterate that the philips led fogs are impressive to say the least. I tried 2 other routes before springing for them and what a difference.

:wow:

The screw is just for aiming headlights specifically. I will take a pic of it this afternoon if I think about it

I've always had 6k or 8k hid's and most recently 6k lifetime led's. Seems like many here prefer the Phillips 4300k bulbs, my question is are they a quality upgrade thing or just the preferred color? I'm ready to order tonight, Just bought my truck Thursday.

Didn't want to put new projectors in my '06 lights, so no HID's, and not willing (yet) to pay a lot of money for short-term performance halogen bulbs.

So I ordered Xenon Depot Xtreme LED H11 lights. Quality product, packaging, and customer service.

The good: twice as bright and more side-to-side light.

The bad: short light zone, no additional throw; and terrible in dark, rainy weather.

Need a better solution, so back to the 'drawing board.'

I installed the xenon depot extreme hid kit today. It was a simple install. The instructions were good, and the kit comes with everything you need. The new lights are much brighter than OEM.

I marked the upper limit of the OEM lights on my garage door about 20 ft away. After putting in the HIDs, the lights did not go any higher. The upper limit was exactly where the old ones hit. So I did not adjust the headlights.

Will see tomorrow morning if anyone flashes me. I'm out of the house at 5:30 am every day.

It's a bit of both.

5K is about the highest I'd go to still have real useable light output. It will no doubt have a more 'cool white' hue to them vs the 4300k is more of a warmer white output. Like it's been stated the 4300k is what almost all major oem xenon bulbs are rates at. It's a matter of useable light which is what most people do the upgrade for.

Having the Philips option is definitely a quality and piece of mind upgrade- they just have much better consistency.

XenonDepot, why don't you guys answer emails more than once a day? I've had an issue with my HID lights (one side doesn't always turn on) and it's going on 2 weeks now of one email a day. I love the performance of them, when both work.

Installed the Xenon Depot phillips 4300k kit very easy install with all the related posts I was prepared.

The first impression is the light output is significantly improved but the light seems very yellow. What kind of colour shift can I expect? When they are first turned on they are in the blue range but seem to "warm up" to yellow from that point.

My reasoning (which could be flawed) is that the LED had a diode on each side. When in the projector housing one of the diodes is pointing backwards. Although light gets reflected back, there's still a great deal that gets blocked due to the "stick" the diodes are mounted to being a solid piece of black plastic.

The standard housing on the pre-refresh models allow each of the diodes to emit directly to the reflector and out. So it's possible they will work better than in a projector. Either way, the LED is still brighter than the stock bulbs and the sylvania ZXE bulbs I had before that.

As far as fogs go, Phillips LED all the way. They're awesome.

Just my 2 cents on it.

Are you aware if they fixed the "stick" issue with the LED lights? Like possibly a new design or so?

I just received at 8PM and installed my XenonDepot LEDs (5K). Install was easy. Glanced through the instructions because I've read enough about them on this forum to "figure them out". After the initial install, I took it for a drive but found the headlights were pointed a bit high so I wasn't getting much usable light on the ground. Went home, pointed them down quite a bit (about 10 feet from the garage door I move them about 2 inches down) and got better results taking a spin around the block but still not all that bright. Gonna have to see how they fair on the drive to work tomorrow. The bright side is now the low beam color matches the driving lights that use the Philips LEDs (which are great BTW).
