XM Price Increase!

So, I was toying with the idea of signing up for XM again....took a look at their 'official price' (yes, I know deals can be made) and it was $12.xx/month. Well last night about 10 minutes before the ball drops (yeah, the fun of a baby) I pulled up their site and on their pricing page is said it was down for maintenance. Did not think too much, until this morning and I pull it up and it is now $14.49/month!!! They did not waste any time is 12' making more money! I have a feeling these 'deals' will be more too now....oh well...:redbrick:

I noticed since my trial membership runs out in March. However, if it helps any, signing a 3 year deal saves a little cash. Yet, I'm with you on the price increase.

I won't be paying anymore than what I have been, as much as I like a lot of the talk shows, having blu tooth streaming already made it hard for me to justify getting it. I guess we will all see what kinda deals they wanna cut, once you let it expire for a while they are always willing to work with you.

I got the lifetime membership (Sirius) after my 2nd year, which was 5 yrs ago now. Glad I did! Love my Howard Stern! I've transferred to new radio once, although I am usually listening online anyway.

You can get it for $77 a year plus the license fee. You will need to speak to an American rep to get this deal. I just renewed my Infiniti two weeks ago :)

This subject has been hashed out in a previous thread...you may wish to search and look at it.....

In a nutshell, you can negotiate with them....my subscription ran out and I said that a lot of people were getting a discount of $77 per year and that I would take it if they would come down....he said I'll check, and returned in a minute and said that offer was still valid....

Now here's another thing from the previous thread.....do not pay by credit card other wise it automatically renews in a year at the higher going rate....pay by check....they will charge you $2 extra to bill you....just pay it and mark your check with the radio ID #

Yes......2 weeks ago was 2011.....it is now 2012 and they jumped their rates (hence the thread) so I am curious if that popular 77 deal will now be 88 or 99 or.....

al la carte sounded good to me, but you need a special radio capable of al la carte and no sports channels. For me, I just need like 5-10 channels they offer. sat radio is great to have, but I can live without it. not sure why this was titled "we" it is an individual question, or did I miss a meeting???:fishing:

i have absolutely no clue.

i purchased my 4runner in january of 2010 and the xm radio still works :roadkill:

Me too.. Had XM radio for free now almost 2 yrs.. Here is what you do..Subscribed to XM for about 3 months, then all you do is cancel your subscribition.. Next Do NOt turn on your XM radio for about 2 to 3 months so they can't send the cancellation signal to your radio.. It works! Trust me

mines still working free :hiding:

We must have had the same salesman. Got mine in July 2010 and have never heard anything from XM. Damn thing just keeps working.

I wouldn't pay for it though. I've found that the reception is very spotty in the PNW and Southern BC coast. I still may have been tempted to pay, back before they started running advertisements on it too. Can't stand those either! It's hard to explain what "Male enhancement" is to my 5 year old daughter! :naughty:

same boat here.

i listen to it once in a while but not enough to pay for it.

Just got a call from XM saying that although my free subscription is valid till March 2012, they wanted to know if I was interested in continuing the subscription after it expires. I said I was and as a result they offered me a low rate of $28 for 6 months which comes out to about $3-5/ month. I believe that XM is worth that- will reevaluate after 6 months.

just call and say you would like to cancel your service. They will offer you a hell of a deal. My wife has been doing this for 4 years now with her Honda accord. Every time they offer to give her a 3 or 6 month deal that averages 5-6 dollars per month.
