XM - Recent Renewals?

lol, I got a Sirius radio (I think) about 9 years ago, we bought the lifetime suscription, that said I get 1 free (unit) upgrade per year. XM and Sirius have merged, I upgraded my unit, and they "tried" to get me to pay a $75 upgrade fee, as per the new merger, my reply was, according to the contract I agreed to and signed, I get 1 free upgrad per year, for my lifetime.
I was upgraded within two minutes, havent paid a single penny in the 9 years having Sirius IIRC we paid $500 for the lifetime.
I love Sirius, Im sure they might be very friendly if I get another new head unit lol
 
WTF? I have a sirius radio as well also with a lifetime subscription, and when I called to have it transferred, they gave me the same bs about a $75 charge, and when I told em that was not the agreement I signed up for the lady basically told me tough shit and there wasnt anything she could do about it.
 
I called XM last month as my trial was ending. I was told I could get 12 months for $83.00 and also that I was eligible for a 3 month trial. So, I received 15 months of service for $83.00.

Sorry, I had no offer code and the rep I spoke with did not mention any offer code. I simply called and told her I heard of an offer for $83/year she asked to put me on hold and came back to ask if I purchased the vehicle new. I told her I did, and she told me I was eligible for a 3 month trial on top of the free trial I already had. She also said she was authorized to give me the $83/year deal and confirmed for me that it was for all of the channels as some deals do not give you Stern, etc.

I don't think I got the greatest deal out there, but I was satisfied.
 
This was too easy?

Since my one year subscription, which cost me $104 total, was going to expire next month I called to see what they would offer. When I called XM yesterday "Jill" took my call. She was very friendly. I told her I wished to cancel my subscription when it expired on Feb.14th. I told her I had checked on line and thought the renewal price was too high.

Jill said she noticed I had the promotional rate and said that the new promotional rate was lower, at $96 total, and asked if I would be interested in renewing at that rate. That seemed reasonable to me, so I confirmed with her that it was one year and that was the total amount with all the taxes and fees added on.

Then she explained that with this promotion the one year started immediately. Now I started calculating in my head how much the cost of the three weeks I would lose on the current subscription would be. However, before I could get into the math she said I would get a credit for the unused portion of my current subscription, bringing the total for a year to $88 total.

I was expecting her to ask for a credit card, but she asked if I would like her to send me a bill like last year or would I like to put it on a credit card? I told her to bill me and she said I would get it within the next couple weeks. I checked my SiriusXM account today and my subscription shows an expiration date of 01/19/14 with a balance due of $88.31.

Maybe it wasn't the lowest rate I could have gotten, but it was way easier than many are reporting on this forum.

Do you get Howard Stern and other premium stations for that price?
 
My radio searches for signal sometimes. Is there a better antenna everyone is using or just the stock? My satellite tv searches some also, maybe my area?
EDIT: just noticed some mail from Sirius xm ,
"To continue your service uninterrupted after your trial ends here's the rates."

Yearly 175.01( includes one month free)
There's no way I'm paying this much.
Is this their starting point then they negotiate down?

Look at nglayton's post (#211) and call the phone number he posted. Mention that promotion, or any that you've read about here. They will definitely give you some heavily discounted promotion rate.

Why mess with them. Their prices can be high, the quality of the sound is not all that great and it does not play in surround mode. I stream audio of my choice in surround sound as my vehicle has a surround sound system. I have three vehicles and to put it in all three is even more expensive. On one of my vehicles I just down loaded about 600 songs from CD's using my computer and put it on a flash drive. It goes in my truck and the quality of sound is sill better than most XM radios I have listened to in other people's vehicles and best of all my music is basically "FREE".

Agreed, to even expand Pandora, Slacker and I Heart Radio are all better and free alternatives to XM/Sirius satellite radio IMO.

Got my upgrade call the other day, $107 (Premium) for 14 months. No other fees or activation. No complaints from the service so far.
