XM - Recent Renewals?

XM is really pissing me off lately!!

I prepaid for 1 year for $77 plus fees a couple of months ago. About a month ago my traffic stopped working. After about a week I called XM to troubleshoot. They ended up resending the signal to fix it. In doing so they ended up charging me $95. I didn't notice this until I checked my bank account and saw the charge. I call XM to have them credit this back. Finally after 3 calls (the calls kept disconnecting when I was placed on hold) the guy said I should see the credit in about 5-7 business day.

Today I noticed they still had not credited my account, so I called XM again. The lady put the credit on, but when she was checking to see if the credit/refund went through we got disconnected. When I called back a new lady said she saw a credit for $50. :redbrick: I have no idea why a credit of $50 was made instead of the $95. The second lady made another credit for the difference and supposedly fixed the problem.

I have no confidence in XM right now. They seem to be run by monkeys!!!
 
I got my 4Runner back in March and I never contacted XM to register the radio or traffic, they just worked. Today, after 7 months, I finally got an email. Apparently, Toyota finally clued them in back in September. I checked out their online stuff and I noticed that they are trying to add in XM Weather to the package. Does this work with our nav systems?

I have had xm for 4 years and they are a pain. Each year I do the $77 plan, but refuse to give them a credit card. Be careful b/c they will autorenew your subscription at some incredibly bad price....so you MUST call them before your subscription runs out and renew under the $77. Every year they move my autorenew date up and then charge me about $50 for a month of service. I always call and after about an hour of transfers finally get the credit restored. I suggest calling well in advance of your year end and insisting on the $77 rate....they always give that rate if you keep asking.
 
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm curious what types of rates XM is quoting others now. Not sure if rates went up for 2011 or what, but I want to be armed with Current facts before I call up XM.

They've already e-mailed and sent snail mail about my 3 month trail and quote prices from $15.07 for one month to $165.72 for a year subscription. Definitely more than y'all were getting quoted 6 months ago!

Just renewed last month for $77. for one year total about 92 bucks+/- sent them a check no credit card. You have to call then before the year is up to cansel or work out another deal or they will charge you full rate on your account as I understand it.
 
When I tried to renew a couple weeks ago, I had no problem getting the 77/year rate. However, they would not add traffic to that. If I wanted traffic, they wouldn't give it to me for $48/yr. Rather, I'd have to pay full price for the music and then add traffic. I called multiple times and wasn't able to find anyone who would add both.

I then called to cancel, and the customer retention person gave me another 3 months free.

Has anyone been able to add traffic to the $77/year music package, even if they are willing to pay full price for traffic?

Interesting - I was planning to keep the traffic option, so good to know that's tougher to work out.
 
I hope I get lucky, I just bought a used 2010 TR4 Trail about a month ago, I called XM to transfer it into my name because the dealership said I didn't have a free trial service because it was a used car. XM rep said I had a free 2 year deal that was good until 2012. I guess I will see how long it takes for someone to notice and cancel it on me. I am hoping it will last until 2012.:thumb3:
 
I skipped the traffic add-on because there are only two freeways I ever use. I did get the XM Everything plus Best of Sirius for $100. The traffic was never really all that useful anyway. It wasn't updated as frequently as it should have been, accidents that had cleared hours before were still shown at 10pm, etc.

I got the traffic for 47.88 for a year in addition to the $77 for music.

My XM 'trial' is going on 7 months now although I suppose one of these days it will quit. I have not received any renewal notification, but then I never registered my radio either.

Wow. What a PITA conversation with XM. It was like a bad episode of Outsourced.

I ultimately got the same deal you mentioned, but only after lots of pushing and asking...and trying my best to understand 5 different sales people with very heavy accents. And I even kept my "nice guy" vibe throughout...which was getting tough to do.

Thanks for the feedback so I knew what price to hold out for.

Called the other night because of a billing issue (way to long to get into here).

They offered me a few deals:

6 months for the price of 3

12 months for the price of 6

Some other one for like $7 a month for 4 months.

They are offering deals, but some you can not get if you previously got other deals, like say the 5 month for $20 they were offering last year.
 
Wonder if I can move the XM unit from my prius to my 4runner.. if it's the same part.

My 2010 prius has free XM/Traffic until 2013 as it was added while I worked for Toyo, and Xm was included for all corporate leases. Since the prius only gets driven 5 days a month now, perhaps I can just swap the units..

anyone know if it's the same unit?

I would bet that it would be easier to have the XM guy just move the subscription from one radio to the other. I'd guess that they won't want to do that, but if you get the right person on the other end of the phone, you may get lucky. Never hurts to ask!

My experience with XM was that every time I called, I got a different person in an unnamed foreign country who provided a different answer to the question I asked. My recommendation to everyone on this price stuff is just keep calling back until you get a person who's answer you like.
 
Well i don't have a promo code or deal i came accross
rather i'm a bit peeved my subscription auto renewed
without me knowing. I saw this charge from them on
my credit card and was like wtf! I was gonna try and
negotiate a deal or somethin but i guess they beat me
to the punch. Sneaky, very sneaky.
