XREAS leaking @35k :(

that makes sense…I asked twice if the shock could be changed…Go figure that they don't know anything.

So now I've got to decide if I want to XREAS or not…I may just get the parts and fix it??
 
For the first 2,000 miles it has been driven, the XREAS has delivered a pleasantly refined driving experience for a truck.

I have replaced plenty of XREAS shocks and have done 1 only with no problems. Warranty will only over the one leaking when we do them. As long as its a minor leak you are ok to replace the shock its when you loose a lot of fluid it becomes much more expensive.

$1300+ in just parts, you know labor will some where around $600~, ugh, for that much I would seriously consider aftermarket suspension and a nice one too.

Huge bummer they wouldn't warranty that close to the expiry, or even offer some form of a prorated discount, not really a good way to keep/make friends IMO

You should wait - if you are that excited you are probably going to want Icon stage 6, don't waste your time with the discount on those 5100's

I just put all the part numbers on for reference. I'm only replacing the front passenger one myself--$150...

I get the feeling you guys could cost me a lot of money. I have already been struggling to keep from stockpiling parts while I wait. Ha ha. So ... I've read quite a few of the threads on different shocks, etc, but different opinions are always fun ... why do you think I should wait and get the Icons? One thing I have noticed in all of my reading ... they do seem to be the best. I've still gone back and forth quite a bit on which option would work best for my purposes.

I don't really think that, weak attempt at humor. The Icon Stage 6 system is outrageously expensive and beyond the needs of all but the hardest of hard core off roaders. The 5100's would be a sound choice.

Ha! I'm bright, you see. Really, I'm sarcastic as hell, yet sometimes I just can't recognize it when it's in front of me. You like how easy it was going to be to convince me to spend thousands instead of a few hundred?

Many of us get caught up in modding our trucks - this is a bad place for those without a lot of self control!

I fall into this category also, just having a little fun!

I'm so glad I got all the vehicle mod crap out of my system 20-30 years ago. I now just mod my mountain bikes lol. I have one going into the shop tomorrow to get the front suspension rebuilt and some brake mods done. No real difference lol. My front bike suspension will cost more than 4 5100's so its definitely not cheaper!

Agreed. I got hurt and "retired" after 6 years of racing at the Elite Amateur level on the road and Cat 1 level in mountain. I could have bought several Icon Stage 6 systems with the money I spent on my bikes, wheels, shoes, helmets….you get the point.

Of course, we won't discuss how much I've spent on fly fishing gear...:fish2:

Ha ha. See, I need to get a mountain bike this year, too. I'm mostly running or on the road bike, but I'd really live a decent mountain bike, too. And yeah, a few hundred bucks is really not a huge investment when it comes to that kind of stuff ...
