Xreas w/ spacers and ARB/Shockworks Bmpr

Is an ARB or Shockworks type bumper too heavy for XREAS with a cornfed 3/2? Is it necessary to get something like an OME with heavier springs? Anyone have this setup out there? Thanks, G

You will need either an OME setup with heavy springs or a coilover setup. Not even debateable. Those bumpers will simply be too much for it.

Well, there goes my idea for replacing my damaged bumper cover with an ARB. I don't have money to redo the shocks too, plus I like XREAS for the moment.

Necessary is the key word here.

No it is not necessary to use heavier springs rather than a 3/2 spacer lift. I've ran thru some numbers on another thread explainging this, you can look it up.

Its all about intended usage. I dont know what the trails are like in FL where you are located, but they dont seem like they would be as hardcore as out west running in high speed desert conditions.

If you are asking primarily about what your net height of the lift would be after including the weight of the bumper, then I would say that after factoring in a 1/2" decrease due to the weight, your 3/2CF would be at 2.5" net front end lift. If using OME's heaviest springs you would be lucky to be at a 2.5" net front end lift at best, most likely it would be lower.

If you are concerned on how it would handle off road, any you should be concerned, then clearly some heavier springs and more appropriate shocks to effectivly dampen the load would be justified.

This is an interesting thread, as I was considering the ARB bull bar a while back and had similar concerns. Specifically, I love the X-REAS and did not want to ditch it for a new suspension set up. I emailed ARB to ask them whether a suspension upgrade was necessary or if I could install the ARB Bull Bar on a stock 4th gen 4Runner. The reply was that the stock suspension could handle the bull bar as long as I did not add a winch. They told me the bar weighs 90 pounds. I had my 140 pound wife sit on the front end of my truck and I measured about 0.5 inch loss from ground to bottom of wheel fender. Also, with her on there I tried vigerously bouncing the front end, and the shocks dampened exactly as they do without her. Of course in real life driving, and over time, things might be different. I still have not made a decision on whether or not to get the bar, mainly due to available funds.

I was thinking about it again... ARB with stock XREAS suspension and maybe a 0.5" leveling spacer...
