Yakima Basket Restoration

Wasn't exactly sure where to post this but here it goes.

I recently picked up a Yakima Loadwarrior basket off of craigslist.

I'm going through the process of semi-restoring it cosmetically, I have figured out how to make the fairing look like new basically, and I'm currently trying to figure out the best way to re-finish the basket itself, but I'm kind of undecided about what to use on it.

I've thought about using Rustoleum bedliner, but I'm afraid it may stain and just generally look dirty all the time, also worried about the clamps not sliding properly over the surface afterwards.

Cheap flat black spray paint has also crossed my mind, but I'm not sure how well it will hold up, I do plan on using the rack frequently.

Also thought about trim and bumper paint, but still not sure how it would hold up, it is probably the best choice for resistance to fading, and would match the original finish best.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

i would sand it, then lay a couple coat of self etching primer, then a coat of whatever you want on it. i like the idea of bed liner spray, they don't actually get that dirty.
