Yakima Load Warrior Basket & Jaylow Kayak Carrier

Used search and could not find exactly what I was looking for.

On the Yakima site, it indicates that you can load kayak(s) on them. Can I attach the Yakima Jaylow kayak carrier to my cross bars and have it work safely? If so, do you use the adjustable middle bar along with the rear horizontal bar for each kayak mount? If so, how far about should the two horizontal bars be?

I am going camping next week and was thinking the same thing. I wanted to carry a kayak and use my Loadwarrior basket at the same time.

I have not done this, but did some research. The front and rear bars of the Yakima Loadwarrior basket and the removable bar on the Yakima Loadwarrior extension are the same 1" diameter as the Yakima round crossbars used for all their accessories. I confirmed this by measuring mine. The manual for the Loadwarrior says that you can carry a canoe as long as you have a crossbar (I assume they mean the vehicle cross bars not the basket crossbars) spread > 30". They do warn you that your load weight should not exceed your vehicle's roof bar load limit and the basket contents overall should not exceed 140lbs. The Yakima Loadwarrior basket is 25lbs and with the extension is another 7lbs. The 4Runner stock crossbars load limit is 132lbs evenly distributed so that means you want to keep your kayak weight and basket contents < 100lbs.

The pic you provide is very useful! I did not make it clear that I already purchase the Jaylow product and they do fit on the crossbars as defined (rear and middle). I will confirm the weight of the Kayak, but I would be surprised if it exceeds 100 lbs. All should be fine as between the tie downs on the Jaylow itself as well as the front and rear ones to the vehicle it should be very secure.

I'm sure you've played with this some. For me, I use the Even keel carrriers on70" aero bars and can carry two kayaks or one and a narrow box. I actually just got pads, though, to carry one boat closer to the roof and find it cuts down on wind resistance a ton. You can fit the pads (or a pull noodle ziptied to the bars) on that basket too.
