Yellow top Optima battery D35 or 34?

ive used deep cycle batteries for at least 14 years, this diehard is more than most people need, myself included) if they dont have high power amps, winches, fridges,shorts,extremely cold winter, or anything than causes a drain.the good thing about deep cycle is it can be drained way down, then recharged, over & over again & still maintain the charge. where as a reg. battery wont hold its charge after its drained too far down even 1 time, (short in system, radio or lights left on, winching,etc.) then u need a new one. u wont have that problem with a deep cycle battery.the discharge/recharge can be done over & over again. lots of guys go with dual batteries, but this one is fairly powerful with large reserve so some might not have to go the dual route. the odyssey 1700, or the yellow or blue (pretty much the same thing but with different terminals) top optima might be a better choice for you. the only drawbacks are they can be much heavier , sometimes guys also upgrade the battery wires at the sametime, & they cost alot more, but at least u know if its ever accidently drained, its still good.i had this in my jeep that i sold,& saw that it just fit , so i thought i try it, i have no problems with this it but it is very heavy & a tight fit, so i might switch to the 1700 or a yellow d35 optima & use this as a backup.

I'm in this same position. The battery on my 05 V8 Sport is on its way out. Anyone have pictures of the d34/78 installed? I think the reason Autozone recommends it is because the CCA's on the d35 are lower than the 34r; however, the d35 works just fine and has the deep cycle capacity. The d34/78 has higher CCA's and, in theory, should be stronger for statring. Also, look at the CTEK 7002 battery tender/charger. 1st Optima Batteries has good prices on both, http://www.1st-optima-batteries.com

Ya, mine should be here tomorrow. The truck was in the body shop for about a month and they kept having to recharge the battery so I decided to buy one before it leaves me at WalMart or some godaweful place. EEtM33t, when you get that lift on be sure to post pics!

Your battery gets there tomorrow or the 4Runner does?

If I could meet some folks mechanically inclined with some jack stands and that sort of thing I would be able to have that lift installed post haste (as soon as I get the 4runner back from the shop that is...).

I recall seeing an idiot driving around the MGM parking garage randomly hitting cars, the wall and everything else with his old beater Honda Accord. I also watched another idiot back out of a parking spot without looking and hit a Tacoma that was driving past. The MGM garage can be a nightmare...

Haha yes of course it was in Las Vegas... Only the gutter desert rats here would do such things! Never been surrounded by such pieces of trash in my life... Not at a casino though at the University of all places.

I wasn't aware UNLV had parking garages. When I was there I parked in the Thomas and Mack center lot...

Yeah, there are 2 now. One on the North end of campus and one now on the south end in the T&M lot.

I have a 2003 Limited and it called for a D35 Yellow Top. It fits. You need to use the top that snaps on for the bottom to raise it up a bit.

This is a resurrection, but thought if anyone was looking at yellowtops like I was this may help. Get the D27F. It's a direct fit for the 4runners. 830 CCA, and 140 minute reserve capacity. No spacers needed either.

Well mine is dead and can't be run for more than about 20 minutes before it dies. I even used the recond mode on my ctek but no dice. I should be able to get it warrantied and maybe ill see if they will let me pay the difference.

Yeah man. And when I called wholesale optima or whatever their name is I was literally 2 days past the warranty period and the aholes said they wouldn't help me. I called on a Monday and the warranty period ended on a Friday- I even left them a message :/. So I called optima support and they said they would help me.
