Yes or No on KDSS

Hi everyone

If you can choose again , will you KDSS or not?

I know many of you will say, test drive both and see if you like it but I know with 10-15 minutes test drive, I won't tell the different

Need your help !!!

If you "won't tell the different" then why spend more money and get KDSS?
 
If you haven't test driven how do you know you won't be able to tell the difference. No one can answer this for you except yourself.

Go to Putnam and test drive both, one of the best dealerships in the valley if you ask me, otherwise I'll echo what everyone else said. Goodluck brother.

One of the threads referenced above is mine, but I've owned a 2014 with KDSS and now a 2014 without KDSS. I greatly prefer the ride and simplicity without KDSS.

The irony is there was another person that sold their non-kdss in order to buy KDSS and said the same thing! I've never had it so I don't know what I'm missing... or not. :roll:
 
I have a 2016 Trail with KDSS; on windy roads it's great in preventing body roll and the increased articulation is cool while off roading. Driving down a city street full of potholes doing 25-40... the KDSS prevents the suspension from doing what it was designed to do and firms uo the ride.
In my opinion the KDSS makes for a bumpier ride regardless of what suspension upgrades you have made.
Some people like the stiffer ride and the idea of KDSS was great while I was shopping for the rig but after a year... I would prefer my 4R without KDSS.

What is you intended end game for build and use? Do you want long travel rear? Then no KDSS as it will not allow it. Do you want a lifted mall crawler that never sees more than a fire road and want great handling, then possibly yes. TEst drive both and do some more searching.
 
I test drove both and went with kdss. I came from modified german cars and appreciated the way kdss handles. Non-kdss felt like a floaty truck and I drive 98% on paved roads. A mild lift is planned so that won't be an issue. Test drive them back to back and see what your daily needs are.

If you can't tell the difference in the first 30 seconds - you need to double check if it has KDSS. Whether you like it or not or whether it's worth the extra money is a different question that you'll have to answer for yourself. But it's very obvious the first time you go around a corner.
 
I just picked up one without KDSS on purpose. I plan on building up my rig, so I didn't want to have to work around it. I also plan on keeping my T4R for a few 100k miles and didn't want to possibly fix it later *(it's proven to be very reliable). Buy what you want, I don't have it and I don't miss it BUT I respect that it is a great system and works really well.
 
I have owned both a 2014 SR5 no kdss and a 2016 TEP with kdss. With kdss the ride is substantually harder, but leans less in turns and has less nose dive when breaking.

I can't believe the non-KDSS has more nose dive! I didn't drive both models: I saw my 2016 TEP with KDSS, drove it, researched KDSS a little bit, and bought it. The nose dive alone will require suspension mods soon.

the engineers in japan modeled the dive of my non kdss after the japanese olympic divers to get the maximum nose dive possible
