yet another yet another which tire is best thread Grabber AT2 or KO2

I would like to take advantage of labor day sales and pull the trigger on a new set of tires for the beast. V8 so qty 5 it is :ulls collar::

I have been back and forth between Grabber AT2's and KO2's for months. Both are aggressive looking, quality, relatively low noise for AT, etc etc. KO2's seem to last a good amount longer.

where my trouble begins is the plethora of conflicting opinions on wet traction, snow traction & ice traction. 4Runner is my main vehicle in the Philly Winters (Live in Manayunk for anyone who can commiserate, its hilly AF) and want to get the better options for snow and ice along with what each tire already offers.

With the marked price difference (grabs $630/ko2s $1025 for a set of 5) I wanted to ask about actual experience with these two tires in the rain/snow/ice. everything points to KO2's being worth almost twice the price except the snow/ice traction.

Who wants to chime in? :ear:

I've never run the ko2 however, myself and my truck buddies all run the grabber at2 on multiple vehicles. My friend in a Ranger went all winter (nh) in 2wd and I have never had issues in winter. Will be picking up another set before this winter.

I have had a few sets of KO tires. Old version and I now own the KO2 on my 4Runner. Great in snow/ice/rain and all that. Great off road as well, but they suck in mud, and do mediocre at rock crawling. That being said, they don't advertise them for those 2 conditions, so you can't really dock them for that.

Overall they are great tires. I have about 25K on mine and they are maybe 40% worn.

I'm gonna grab a set of grabber AT'2 tomorrow myself, I like the KO2 as well but I'm mostly on road so for me the GT AT2 will do just fine...may I ask where your getting a set of 5 for $630, cause I'm in on that all day!!??

this is what i'm leaning towards. if the price point were closer, i would risk the KO2s as they do seem to last longer, but the grabbers seem to make everyone happy in the wintertime. thanks.

i do little to no mudding/rock crawling. most i've done is the 1/2 hour beach drive up the coast in NC. my almost bald Mich CrossTerrains champed that no problems.

one could argue I don't even need AT tires, but what's the fun in that?

tirerack has them for ~$140 a piece plus some rebates. comes out just under 630 for all 5. i think this is the way to go.

I went through a duratrac and ko2 debate recently and ended up wth the ko2. No experience on the grabbers, but so far the ko2s are real nice

Hmm them you gotta add at lest $110+ for shipping...mounting & bakancd Discount tire or even WalMart can beat that.

good catch, something was making me think both tirerack and discount tire were free shipping this weekend. turns out I can pick up at the distro center for tire rack, for free :naughty:

the next best for this weekend was discount tire direct. $160 a pop with a total of 95 in rebates = 705 (actual free shipping)

Bfgoodrich over Grabber. Grabber a good copy of old TA that lasts 20 to 25k ish. Bf double that. Bf quieter.
They are not the same. Grabber dealer and guys will say they are though.
