Personally, I see little reason to justify the price of the KO2'S. I'm sure they are awesome, but the grabbers have a lot of love and seem just about as good. Final decision, for now.

If you look at their road manners they are pretty bad compared to a all season tire Tire Test Results : Highway All-Season or On-/Off-Road All-Terrain - Testing the Differences When Driving on Paved Roads. Everyone swears by the KO2's. There must be a reason they are more expensive?

I love the Grabber AT2's on my 4runner. They handle dirt and paved roads, snow or clear, with aplomb. I would buy them again in a heartbeat. The fact that they cost significantly less $$$ is a bonus.
The BFG's may last longer but you have to wonder how much longer their usable life is. All tires degrade performance as they age, so "lasting" an extra 20k miles might not actually be that useful if their rain and snow performance is degraded dramatically at that age.

Have you looked into the Falken AT3W? They look awesome and seem to be getting good reviews on forums. Good price, not loud, hybrid design like the duratrac.
I wasn't sure if you were dead set on the KO2s or AT2s.
To hijack this thread a bit - I'm also looking for my next set of AT tires, but living in SoCal don't care so much about snow and ice performance (other than the occasional ski trip). I do, however, occasionally get out on some trails covered with nasty sharp rocks. I've slashed a sidewall on these a couple of times over the years and wonder what the 4Runner crowd recommends for this. I'm guessing KO2s all the way because of the 3-ply sidewall, but if you guys like something else (that's maybe cheaper) I'd love to hear it.

never dead set on anything. most of my research pointed to KO2 or AT2. Duratracs seemed overkill, Coopers were an option but many have a lot of problems with them, Firestones were meh, Duellers were ok, had multiple ppl tell me Nittos were a 20kish tire.
never even looked at these. Haven't heard the name before. looks like a real nice tire. similar price to grabbers, website talks it up real good. thanks i'll look around for more info :hatsoff:

everyone seems really happy with these. They just came out in Feb '16 so sadly there isn't a whole lot of experience in the snow. they are snowflaked, however.

Some independent tire guy on Federal in Denver talked my son-in-law into Falkens for his Pathfinder. In my opion they wore rapidly. If for some reason you don't want tires proven to wear well and offer great traction and gas mileage. Then you might look at Nokians. I ran them a few years back with no regrets but for some reason went back to Michelions and Generals better gas mileage on the Michelions for sure and The Generals do great in most any conditions. Both handle great for me.
I was just looking into Falkens, too, so funny it was brought up. Are you sure that they were the new AT3? I've heard that it was a complete redesign and overhaul that made for an excellent tire at an even better price. My next question that I need to answer is whether or not I will get E rated or SL...there about a 13lbs per tire weight difference in the 275/65/18 :noidea:

Anyone with Mastercraft experience, I know they are a Cooper brand but haven't heard anything good or bad about them. I really like these.

very much considering these, I'll be looking for the SL rated ones. most of my driving is road/highway and any offroading i'm doing, i would be laughed at for calling it offroading. beaches, state parks, no crawling or major stuff whatsoever.

those look really nice too. however they dont have stock 4thgen size and they are all load E rated. not for me. thanks.
No they were not AT3s. But let a really bad taste in my mouth for the brand. I thought they really were pretty poor.

now to find a reputable place in Philly to mount and balance...

That's a great price. I'm looking at 275/70/18 and it's about $180 (still good compared to other tires).
