Yoke dust boot?

So I'm seriously tired of the bump stop from my slip/fixed/sleeve w/e yoke and decided I'll be ordering some of that Ford teflon grease before taking it out for actual servicing and lubing. Timmys video stated it came back after about 10k miles and I was curious if a rubber boot would fix this long term?

My thought is that if I found a boot that fit to install it before I bolted everything back up, then filled via the Zerk fitting to fill the boot and that would allow the open end to be greased properly.

Something like this, not sure exactly which size/part# to order though:

edit; further research indicates even USING the Zerk fitting can cause the bump stop...so just take it out, clean, brush on the Ford grease...then maybe use this boot??

I've read alot of stuff on this subject, you are the first I think to have the idea. Give it a go what you got to lose. If it works for the good you'll be a hero! to the forum. If not :flame: out. LOL

I drilled out my zerk fitting to allow pressure to escape and I'm still regularly getting that stupid rearend clunk. It goes away right after I grease it really well with the Ford grease but it's now coming back quicker and quicker. I think the problem is the slip yoke splines got damaged from being poorly lubricated for so long and then no matter of greasing will do much good. When I get completely tired of it, I think I'll get a custom driveshaft from someplace like Tom Woods.

I was certain I found the definitive fix for this problem but I guess the driveshaft greasing isn't working anymore for me. I am planning on replacing the trans mount and engine mounts because that was another theory of mine to reduce the movement in the drivetrain so we'll see how that goes when I get around to replacing them.

Good luck and I hope the greasing does the trick for you.

Thanks man. Yeah if the part is worn out it'll just need replaced I'm sure, and I greased via the fitting a while back and it worked. I think mine just needs the self lubing to work and the boot idea seems like it'll keep grease on and in all the time. I'm planning on doing this next week and I'll report back my results.
