i ****ing hate dealerships. to make a long story short, read my encounter (Scion & Toyota of Turnersville, NJ)
i walk in and explain my situation. jerkoff says i have to take it to a 4x4 shop because they do not deal with oversided vehicles. i explained the truck sits 3 inches higher and its nothing crazy. he is reluctant and is trying to get rid of me. he then tells me that any scanner can fix the problem. i tell him i have a scanner and i cannot do this, it must be a toyota. he basically tells me i dont know what im talking about. so then i basically ask if he knows what im talking about, and he really has no idea. i explain everyting to him, what i did, what happened, why it happened and what needs to be fixed, and how to go about doing it (by the way he is the assistant lot manager AKA ****ing tool )
he asks and then confirms that they can do it. tells me that its going to be 95 to hook it up and then another 150 to fix. i told him that it only takes 5 mins and a simple push of the finger maybe 5 times. he tells me if its "only five mins, then take it somewhere else and have them take five mins to do" i reply "OH TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE? me and my family own 2 4runners, a toyota corolla, a scion XB, and a yaris, ALL OF WHICH were purchased here, at your dealership!" and just as i say that my friend lou, who is a tech there walks up and gives me a hug. The mood immediately changed.... so now he wants to be my friend and act like he has an inside hookup and will take care of me - but not today!?? so now i have to make an appointment for next week and he will "take care of me"...
this shit is starting to piss me off. and if my truck didn't look so freakin good, i would have regretted doing this.
on another note i talked to my buddy lou about this "tick tic tap" noise. basically as CJ3 pointed out its the valve for the vapor purge system. he said its absolutely normal as well as being a huge pain in the ass. he said that you wouldnt believe how many people come in complaining of this AND the loud injectors. apparently MANY people mistake these sounds for valve taps, which is not the case. He said besides that annoying sound, here is nothing wrong. Also talked to him about the second filter in the air box for the emissions crap and agreed that it would do absolutely no harm to remove this, as it is simply mandated for emissions reasons only.
again sorry for the rants, raves, typos, and whatever else. i promise i will have pics! i now have to wait till next week to have the zero point calibrated, but IF weather permits i will take pics tomorrow. i also put the finishing touches on my center console mod for an additional shelf of storage (which happens to work prettying effing good). so again i will have pics of this rain ever lets up!
thank you all again
edit* i have a question *ahem CJ ahem* lol... will my jack now work with the added clearance? i have yet to even look at it, let alone actually use it. i always use my buddys lift whenever needed, but if in emergency do u think my jack will extend far enough to get my tire off the ground?
