zero point calib not working please help

ok so ive done everything.. got to step 7 of the calibration and after turning off and back on, nothing happens after 15 seconds. the VSC TRAC, VSC OFF and ABS lights are on

WTF!?

help!

after touching 4 times the other 2 lights go out and VSC TRAC stays on. i shut off and back on and all 3 lights are back on again and nothing happens!?!

been doing this shit for the past 4 hours and cant figure out what else to do. when the directions say turn key to ON, that means just the ON position, correct? im not actauly starting the truck, right? i cant think of what else i could be doing wrong!

any ideas?

Try starting the truck. That rings a bell, I think that's what I did. I've done it 2x as part of wiring my VSC off mod and remember some frustration. I think starting it should do it. I also vaguely remember stopping early, step 6-8 maybe? I don't have any lights, the VSC positively works as advertised.

I also needed 2 tries to erase the zero-point (step 3).

do i need to dig down through all them wires and disconnect everything again? or did i NOT need to do that to begin with?

either way im gonna retry this wire procedure, except turning the truck on when it says turn the ignition to ON.....

It shouldn't be necessary to disconnect anything.

I would suggest inspecting the ABS sense wires at the wheels. They're very easy to pull and break the wire. If all of those are good leave it alone. Sleep on it. Try it again with a fresh start tomorrow.

If you don't get it in the morning I'll go knock mine out whack and do the procedure to see what the 'trick' was for me...

i checked everything and dont see any issues. ive tried this damn thing all day long and im about to pull my hair out. i do the initial calib reset (step 3) and then as soon as i go off then back on, all 3 lights are back on again and do not go out.

thanks for the help CJ3 but please dont go out of you wauy for me, ill figure something out! lol

PS - i work M-F 7am till 4pm... no fresh starts here. hah. i had off today for veterans day so i was trying to take advantage. will driving around the rest of the week like this do any damage?

*EDIT* just realized my auto up/down window and sunroof doesnt work now. ARGG WTF!

The auto up and down just requires opening the window fully and closing it fully. (There are many many threads about this and it is in your manual.) Then you should be good. As far as the zero point, can't help you since I haven't ever done it. But CJ3 is all-knowing and will probably give you an answer soon ;)

ok cool thanks... so does that work for the sunroof and back window too?

i have full confidence that CJ will come threw for me, he always does. However in the meantime im a nervous spazz...!

Ok, I went and faulted my VSC and went for a drive:

I then came home and reset it using the following:

I suspect your problem is related to one of the following:
- Not making good contact. I suggest inserting the cut paper clips and connecting/disconnecting the wire from the paper clip.
- In spite of what I said yesterday, don
 
well i really appreciate your help, but no luck... my connector doesnt even have a "12" spot on the conector. i made sure to note that the pic is flipped in respect to mine, and there def is no metal connector in that spot. :/

when i do the initial 4 times in 8 secs and DONT turn the ignition off (just out of curiosity, because this is the only step that seems to do ANYTHING) and wait, the ABS begins to flash, then shortly after the VSC TRAC begins to flash too. im not sure if that means anything or what....

im so frustrated...

and both keep repeating




i have a OBDII scanner.... can i use this, or does it half to be the toyota one??

:mad: :confused: That sucks. Try flashing at least 4x in 8 seconds, leave the wire connected, wait 10-15 seconds then shut it off. While off disconnect the wire. Then start it up and see what you get...

You may have a few codes stored by now and need an analyzer to clear them. Go to Autozone and see if they can pull the code and clear the memory. I am not optimistic they can but it's free.

I assuming you're in P with the steering wheel straight ahead on level ground, correct?

After that I am out of ideas. Sorry...
