Zombie Truck 2.0 MPAV Build!

So here's a quick update on the progress of mods... There is none...
Still waiting to hear from ShrockWorks about my front bumper, they've been very nice putting up with my constant pestering, hopefully their getting started on their next batch soon! *crosses fingers* That said, since I don't know when the front bumper is coming in I am still setting aside money for the lift.
BUT! The truck is getting close to an oil change so I threw in some Seafoam in the oil and am running it till my tank is empty (about 80~90 miles) before changing the oil, so far it hasn't blown up so I would venture to guess it hasn't hurt anything. I also ordered eight of those NGK sparkplugs I was asking about, ended up being about $60 shipped to my door from RockAuto... hopefully they don't mess my order up like this did the parts for my RX7 a year ago...
My Fall semester welding course starts tonight! Which means roughly another week or two until we get to melting metal. BUT! that means I need to draw up designs for my roof rack and possibly some sliders!
So hopefully in the next month or so there will be some decent mods going on.

Quick update...
Just found out our welding department is still under construction, so it won't be usable for another 2~3 weeks... add insult to injury, just noticed that my passenger side inboard CV boot has a tear in it near the clamp spraying goo everywhere. The driver's side's looking to go soon as well, gonna see if I can get that covered under warranty at work tomorrow.

in the meantime, squirt some more grease in there and wrap duct tape around the cv

Well got a bit slow today so brought the 4Runner in for warranty, all we had were the dual inner and outer boot kits (Oh bummer!
) so went ahead and used those and was like, "Well... already changing the inner boots, lets do the outers since its all free anyways!" Took about an hour or so and now I shouldn't worry about those CVs for a long while.

Just did the truck's first oil change since purchasing it. Ran some Seafoam for about 100miles before I changed the oil. Gotta say it came out pretty dark, I know it was changed less than 4k and this oil was blackish so I wonder if the Seafoam did its thing? Flushed that stuff out with an extra quart of oil and filled her up with Penzoil High Mileage 5W-30 I had at work.
Also dropped in the new NGKs and I have to say hard to tell but it does seem to run smoother, maybe my gas mileage will improve some.. a guy can hope no?
Side Note- WHY!? Why did you have to put the ABS/Brake Fluid Resiviour tubing in the way of B1 rear plug hole? Was a PITA to get a long extension in there... granted it wasn't as difficult as replacing the plugs on a '99 Pontiac GTP without removing the engine.
Anyways, little update and I feel all warm and fuzzy because of it. LoL

Another update on the build, its actually getting closer gettin' started!
Just got an email from Mark at Shrockworks that they are making another batch, cutting them as we speak and will be shipped in two weeks! WOOO! Also for my patience he's gonna throw in a snatch strap which is cool of him.
Which also means that the OLW Lift will be the next purchase in the next month.
Unfortunetly the welding lab at the college is STILL under construction.. they're saying the 12th, I think they mean the 12th of NEXT September... getting on my nerves as I wanna start on the roofrack!

So the ShrockWorks bumper came in this afternoon while I was at work. My parts guy was like, "Hey Paul I got this bumper on my forklift I just got off the truck, you know what this is all about?" I was like a kid on christmas!
So I spent an hour or so after work installing the bumper, well most of it. I ended up being late for a CTI Course I had today, almost forgot about it with how excited I was!
Anyways, Some pictures and some notes on what I did to install it.
So here's the rough looking crate with the wonderful present inside:
So first things first, I threw mine on the lift and pulled the tires off to get at the bolts easier, but in reality you just need to turn the wheels. Look in the fender well, and under the bumper and you will see about a dozen or so 10mm hex screws with phillips heads. After you get all those pulled out you'll need to discconnect the fog and signal lights, and while you're under there look up from under the vehicle straight up, at the bottom edge of trim between the headlights. You need to take a pair of needle nose and squeeze all the small square clips and push them up, this will help disconnect the bumper skin from the trim so you can reach under the trim to pop the three plastic clips under that trim. They'll be at the end of the three metal supports that stick out, not that hard to miss. After all that is done, just pull the skin off and it should come off without any issues.
Should look something like this:
There are plastic brackets held on with 10mm bolts on the corner of the fenders, they are designed to hold the plastic skin on the bumper to the body, unbolt them and toss them, they will get in the way of the bumper. Now you'll need to take a 14mm socket and remove the 4 nuts that secure the crossbar for the bumper. After you pull off the cross bar you can now get easy access to the 4 bolts that hold each bumper support. After you do that you'll take the two brackets that are provided with the bumper and install them in place of the original supports, there are additional bolts provided that bolt the side of the bracket to existing threaded holes as well.
I removed the attached skid plate because it made installation easier for me as I didn't feel like dropping the gravel shield at the moment. I would reccomend you install them loosely before you put the bumper on. Then get the bumper lined up (may need another person) and line up the bumper with the brackets. The bottom edge of the bumper should rest on the little ledge cut-out on the brackets, slip some bolts through the holes to hold the bumper in place and secure them. Now tighten up all the 14mm nuts and set the main bumper to the spacing you want and snug up the 19mm nuts & bolts.
Once its all tightened up the bumper should be solid as a rock and look something like this:
(I realize that the picture is somewhat blurry, it was already dark and I was in a rush to get to the class. I'll post a better picture when I am completely done with it.)
Now as I said before, I didn't get it all the way installed, I had completely forgotten about a class I had and ended up being late so I stopped after I got the main body of the bumper installed.
I'm going to try and finish installing the lights, additional plates, and skid plate all tomorrow after work so keep an eye out for further details!

I decided to wait on the 700lbs springs to come in for my OverLand Warehouse 2.5" Suspension Lift Kit + UCAs, so I wll be getting them closer to the end of the month.

Well, YEAH It fits on the front of the 4Runner! LOL
But the package is like 240lbs... but the bumper itself is something like 120lbs.

Congrats on the new bumper!! Looking forward to seeing everything buttoned up. Good choice waiting for the 700 lbs springs...its always better to get what you want rather than settling.

x2. I've read stories about other customers who didn't receive their bolts prior to getting mine. I planned to upgrade to Grade 8 hardware anyway so luckily I had most of the bolts ready when my bumper arrived.
I know it sucks but you're not alone.

Odd you guys mentioned that, I actually emailed Mark because my Shackles were not in my order. I did get pretty much all the hardware I needed to install the bumper (some bolts I supplemented with what we had in parts out of preference).
Mark was nice enough to ship them out to me and said they are in the mail.
I will post an update of the 4Runner with the lights, splash guards, and skid plate installed tomorrow when my headache goes away.

Don't get me wrong, once I told Mark what happened, he shipped me out all the hardware the next day. He was really responsive whenever I sent an email. I just like being prepared for the unexpected.
