So as it turns out, iron man shocks are on a 3 week back order. And no one has any 5160's in stock. So, Cody over at cjc offroad is hooking me up with some icon's. If anyone is looking for offroad parts, cjc offroad is great to deal with. Awesome customer service! On a side note, I just saved 15% on car insurance by switching into reverse and backing away from the scene of the accident.

finally found a 4th gen at a junk yard. ended up getting some switches. total $10 with about 3 inches of the harness
also got the truck inspected and one step closer to installing my 5100's
tacoma springs installed on .85
That looks like a gold mine!

its not the best but its the only 4th gen in town. the fact that the gas tank, kid plates, axles, and more were tossed in the cab made getting to my two switches a pain. but with a little cleaning my two switches look good and im going to replace the rear window switch blank with a hazzard button and wire some offroad lights. just need to find out what im going to do to the face of the switches

its the only 4th gen they have. lots of 3rd and older though. what are you looking for? might be able to save you a trip for nothing. its at a place called brook auto sales at 64 and 288

I installed a Sprint Booster. I only took a 5 min spin around the neighborhood (and I really couldn't get too aggressive even if I had wanted to since I had dash panels and trim laying throughout the cab), but first impression I really liked it.
I finally installed my stereo! :fencing:
Crutchfield's customer service was outstanding as always, but checkout some of the negative reviews regarding the mounting kits for our 4th gen's.
My first attempt - Metra 95-8210 Dash Kit (Fits select 2003-09 Toyota 4Runner models — double-DIN radios) - this is the kit that Crutchfield told me to purchase for my 4Runner.

This one wouldn't even fit over the head unit and would have taken some serious dremel work. It did however fit the dash (the top trim) well.
Second attempt - Metra 95-8202 Dash Kit (Fits select 2000-up Lexus, Scion, and Toyota vehicles — double-DIN radios) - and this was the one Crutchfield sent me as a replacement kit.

This one was pretty slicked and was a hybrid of factory mounts and the new Metra kit.
However, it was too small for the dash opening.
And the winner is Scosche TA2079B (2006 - up Toyota 4Runner DBL DIN RDS radio Kit)! - Even though this kit is listed as a 2006 - up, the documentation in the kit said 2003 - up and it was the one Scosche recommended for my application on their website.
There were some injection marks here and there in the plastic, but not too bad. Dash fit was perfect......of course I forgot to take a picture of the dash and I still don't have it all back together.

Picked up my KM2's in Connecticut. Getting em installed tomorrow morning.

I would highly recommend the Comet rs720 mount. A lot of members use this mount along with myself. It mounts to the back hatch. Any 3 or 4 foot fiberglass antenna will work. Get a spring too so your antenna doesn't break if you snag a overhanging tree. You'll also need about 18-21 feet of antenna cable.
As far as radio goes, its really personal opinion. I have the Cobra 29 lx and love it. It has built in SWR meter, lcd display and more knobs then I know what to do with. its also huge so it takes up a lot of space.

I got all my stuff for the install but I can't find the part to mount the spring to the Comet and link it with the Coax cable.
Any help?

I've hated the silver trim on the dash since I first saw it, I finally had the chance to do something about it.
I popped the trim pieces off, cleaned em up and took a gloss black acrylic rattle can to em. Now it looks to me how I feel it should have come off the line.
For the heat-a/c etc window and the gear numbers I just covered them with Frog Tape then took an Xacto knife and sliced around the inner edge leaving them covered and peeled off the rest. Worked great but I shouldn't have had any coffee before doing it.
