Do you mean like "people have" build threads with this mod done or like "people have" exploded trying to light their own farts on fire? I will email pelfreybilt to see if this will actually work before I commit.

And it's 62lbs, since we are being like that...

[MENTION=78318]RiDE[/MENTION] has done this but with a different aftermarket bumper. I am not sure if the upper grill piece is a single item ( I think it is) so with that and the two 14+ lights you are good to rock n roll. Might not hurt to reach to to Ride for his thoughts. Also if you want help installing let me know and I would buzz down to Rochester, just installed a southern slimline bumper over the holidays and without a second set of hands it would have been tough.

Finally finished. With having a limited I had to drill extra holes for parking sensors myself. And the sensors work fine. I've seen this question come up in a few posts in another thread or two.

It might suit your needs to get some real world strength numbers. A few people are shying away from aluminum because they think it is much weaker.. That is an extremely loaded question and no way to compare especially if the your steel competitor inst posting info about what type of metal they use. For example you are using 5052 (I'l assume an H32 temper) will give you a yield strength of 28ksi, and suppose your competitor is using A36 steel which is a fairly common industrial grade structural steel. A36 has a yield strength of 36 ksi. That gives it an approximate 25% increase in yield strength but you did mention that you are using 1/4" plate compared to most bumper manufacturers who are using 3/16" thick. All of a sudden the strength difference isn't very much and you can really shine by comparing design implements.

Perhaps the only real issue I have with aluminum is its fatigue limit, if not attached appropriately cracks will start to form. In the end I would pick an aluminum bumper over steel but I have a 2013 4runner so its a no go for me.. Might be making my own soon..

Looks okay to me, but I would have wrapped the excess fender liner around the washer reservoir and other bits.

I think it may be the angle I was at that makes it look worse than it is. The fender liners are wrapped but I didn't spend a whole lot of time with them as I plan on relocating the washer reservoir anyway. There is a fluid line on both sides that Pelfreybuilt supplies shields for, which at that angle is somewhat visible. I guess there could be the possibility of a branch or road debris getting up in there but I doubt it. I may make a custom hydraulic hose at some point and eliminate that possibility and the shields altogether.
 
Does the bumper come stock with the cutout for the logo or up top? I've seen both but don't see an option to change it on the pelfrey site. Thanks

TRD Pro version is no cut out. Otherwise there's a cut out. Depends on what you already have.
 
After installing the bumper, I did not like how the washer bottle was exposed. I know it can be relocated, but I did not want to go through the hassle and cost of the kit and I do not plan on going rock crawling. I just wanted some protection from normal road and some trail use. So I fabbed up a cover from 1/8" steel plate using two existing bolts for mounting and painted with Rustoleum bedliner. I trimmed the inner fender liner to fit around and "inside" the cover.

Is that the default powder coat color from Pelfreybilt? If so, I may order mine bare and have matte, and possibly textured powdercoat applied locally.
 
Mine arrived a few days ago, went with aluminum & linex, waiting patiently for all other parts to arrive so I can have everything installed at once. It is an awesome looking bumper
 
Any one running the aluminum with 650lb coils? About to order one but didn't know if I need to upgrade my icon 650's to the 700's.

I am running 650's on my Kings and have a VR10,000S in the bumper. you will be fine with what you have. the 650's were good enough with my shrockworks bumper and same winch and it was well over 100lbs heavier.
