replaced front struts and rear shocks
Wanted a smoother ride for my errand runner, got these Sensas from Amazon. Rear shock top nuts were a pain, fronts were a breeze. It feels so much smoother now, not as jarring as before. But I got an unintended 2" lift up front, not sure if it will settle after a few more miles so I guess I'm gonna have to go look for new rear springs.

These are so damn cool but when I looked into them I recall it being a major pain to get them all hooked up and fully functional. What say you?

Working on the tube bumper
Guess I need to add pictures or something. Took a TJ smittybuilt plate and cut it down to be less boxy, welded up some bits to get it in the right place.
Got a main tube bent and a couple of stand offs notched, and by that point it was dinner time. More tomorrow

Today I 3D printed a threaded oil funnel. I am not sure how I have functioned without this prior to today.

Installed the Dobinson lift and JBA UCAs, so much bling!
Also decided to spruce up my flat black Pro Comp wheels. After trying a few colors, I like the Rustoleum Hammered Gray, that looks like a keeper.

Drove it to work after replacing the starter last night. Now my fuel gauge is acting crazy.
Leon, have you had experience with other kits?
If so how would you rate it?
[$1700 for front/rear/top mount with assembly] + $187 shipping doesn't seem bad. I wonder if it's close to being as good as kings which are like $1k just for the front
I'm currently running 5100 Bilstein all around with OME 881 up front and OME 906 in the rear. I don't have a winch nor plan on getting one but I do have the stainless steel skid plates/gas tank skid/rock sliders/front and rear heavy steel bumpers

Dude. It was super easy. I jumpered 3 of the wires from the white plug to the blue plug and then bought a 6pin sealed connector off ebay to cover the wires I needed to run to the clock, abs module and temp sensor.
I did have to buy a temp sensor from an online vendor.
All in all, took me a solid 1hr of work just following the online write-up.
Just do it. Its super cool

Today, I looked longingly out the window at my rig. So much to do on it. The hot NorCal weather has prevented me from getting underneath that thing for a long time now.
BUT last night it rained for the first time in so knows how long! It’s a little bit cooler today. Things are looking up - I might just be able to get those rack bushings installed this weekend!

been working on this bumper for a minute... today I thought bout working on it some more, but decided to work up a new grille cause I'm dumb and didnt realize the electrical box on the winch would make a mess of my dimensions.
We'll see how it all turns out.

Installed a new set of '99 TYC headlights on my '96. I knew it was a gamble after reading about the issues with the left-side light. As usual, I gambled and lost. Driving around I knew it was off a bit. Then I parked out front with the lights on and drove down the street and back in a Subaru. I can't believe nobody was flashing their lights at me. It was blinding. Passenger side looked great though. I'll put the OEMs back in tomorrow, return the TYCs and keep an eye out for those Pick-n-Pull texts.
I started this in April I think and only got around to finishing it off a couple weeks ago. Man driving the 3rd gen for the first time after driving the 5th gen for months felt like riding a porn star after months of riding your overweight soccer mom prude wife who just lies there with that MPG display looking at you, asking if you're nearly done yet.
I highly recommend you resist the urge to attempt painting the steering knuckle unless you are doing the wheel bearings and will have it all pressed apart! Came out pretty nice though but was a hassle, should have waited until front bearings job.
And of course today I find this on the new drive side CV axle:

- Cleaned front ABS sensors
- Painted ABS wire frame bracket, right side

- Greased upper ball joints
- Lower ball joint, left
- Lower ball joint bolts, left
- Lower ball joint, right

- Outer tire rod end castle nuts
- Alignment
- Restored skid plate bolts and holes
- Oil and filter change
- Fuel system cleaner
- Cleaned MAF
- Air filter
- Checked power steering fluid level

Added "Rear A/C"
I added some "rear a/c" to my truck today by wiring in a few fans that are mounted on the headliner in the back to provide some airflow for rear passengers. Here's some pictures and how I did it.
I had a few 12v DC computer fans laying around. Two were .3A and one was .4A. They don't move a crazy amount of air, but I figured they'd be nice to have in the back, especially if I'm camping back there, as they can also be run off of a house battery in the truck. I also had an old 12v DC boat fan made in West Germany that I figure I'd mount on the back of my center console.
I got a wiring harness going, starting with two leads leading to six wires. Four of the wires went into a 4 pin pc connector, and two branched off to go to the boat fan.
I found some good wire to use to connect the fans to the wiring harness. I ended up taking apart some cat 5e ethernet cable, as it had 8 internal wires and was 18 feet long. Each one of these wires can handle 2.2A, so I'm good in that area. They each were 7 strand copper on the inside as well.
Got a 4 wire to 8 wire splitter going to plug into the previous 4 pin connector and wired all of my ethernet wires into the connector.
For the other end of the 18ft ethernet wires, I crimped on some male connectors.
For the fans, I crimped on corresponding female connectors.
Stated running the wire into the truck, under the trim pieces with the other truck wires. The two main leads will plug into the wires for the 12v DC a/c fan motor.
Ran my wires under more trim in the back seat area.
Wires went up the trim piece to the right of the rear right passenger seat.

This is what I had coming out of the top of the trim piece.
I ran 4 stands of wire under the carper behind the rear seats over to the driver side rear sear trim piece and ran those four wires up and out the top of the trim.
On the passenger side, four wires were ran up into the seatbelt trim piece and out of the top.
I mounted the boat fan with two screws onto the center console.
I mounted my 3 pc fans. Two above where the rear passengers would sit, and one in the cargo space. I connected all of the wires and put them into the headlines trim piece. I have wires for one more fan in the cargo space, I just need to acquire the fan.
All of the fans work. The boat fan is two speed and definitely pushes the most air, and can also have it's direction changed. The pc fans don't push too much air, but I think it would be plenty to keep rear passengers cool if the front a/c is on or if you are sleeping in the back overnight.
