Installed Strongarm 6815 Liftgate Supports.
Made new bushings with Hillman 880440 nylon spacers, Hillman 884573 nylon flat washers.
Cut a spacer in half:
Press on a washer at each end of a shortened spacer to create a nice bushing. (You’ll need one such assembled bushing per side for the top, plus one plain washer per side for the bottom.)
Test fit looks good.
Install with a generous amount of silicone.
I dropped an e-clip in the grass during removal, and after searching with a magnet for some time, I gave up and decided to improvise with some baling wire.
The baling wire seemed like a decent fit and might have been OK to leave in place. But I decided to look again, and after another few minutes of searching, I found it!
So be careful when popping off those little e-clips..
The lift gate works so much better now, and other people won’t hit their heads anymore!! (I still will…)
