Ok so I am really wanting to do some stuff to the runner. I want to get rims tires and a lift. I think im going to get a spacer lift. About 2.5 or 3 inches. Do they make cornfed lit for 01 runners ? Im thinking of going with the daystar 2.5 inch lift. Pretty good ? I want to get bigger tires. I either want the cooper stt or bfgoodrich at. Pretty sure I want the bfgoodrich. Whats the biggest I can go ? What would you reccomend ? I also think I want the cragar soft 8 rims because there pretty cheap and look decent. What kind of backspacing would that be ? Sorry for the kinda long read but I need clarification. Any help is appreciated. Thanks..

I cant comment much on the daystar lifts... But the biggest tires you will be able to run with a 2-3" lift will be 285/75/16, assuming your sticking with 16" rims.

I went with 17" rims on a 285/70 tire.

Well what is a good lift ? Toytec ? What does everyone usually run with these lifts ? What size tire looks good..?

A lot of people buy from toytec and I've heard a lot of good things about them. Most people run the OME suspension system. I have a fabtech lift so I'll let some others chime in on this one.

I think if you get a lift, you should definitely run a 285 size tire.

I might get the 3 inch toytec lift with a new set of rear coils. Its $300 does that sound like a pretty good price ? Ive thought about ome. How much would that cost me roughly ? What all exactly would I need to get ? Do you like your fab lift ? Im either geting the bfgoodrich at, cooper stt or nitto grappler. I think ill end up with the nitto in 285/75r16..

It depends on what you want to do with your lift...just for looks or do you want to do some offroading. I'm not an expert but I did install my own lift and have heard that a spacer lift is not the best option.
check out the site below:
http://www.sonoransteel.com/store_complete_liftkits.html

Excerpts from his site:
"18. What about SPACER LIFTS, A spacer lift is where you insert a puck, spacer or some foreign object into or on top of your coil, to force the vehicle to sit higher off the ground. These can be made from plastic, steel, aluminum or polyurethane. Spacer lifts are what they are. It was my first lift and the rear spacers keep me happy for 6 months or so and the fronts for less than 9 months. If a spacer lift is the only thing you can afford, so be it. It is better than nothing, or is it? After you read the drawbacks of a spacer lift, maybe stock would actually "work" better off road.

Benefits of a Spacer Lift:
A. Lifts the truck 1-3" higher
B. Very Inexpensive

Downfalls of a spacer lift:
A. The biggest one is that they re-use your stock coils, which is not really a good thing if you are looking for a lift. 96-98 4Runners were 3/4" to 1" lower than the 1999 model year, 2000 was along the lines of 96-98 and 01-02 4Runners were the lowest yet, over 1" lower than the same model 1999 4Runner. When your starting out 1" to 2" lower your 2"-3" spacers are only going to get you 1" or so above a 1999 4WD 4Runner bone stock. Replacing the coils is a far better way to actually gain lift. Take a look at our front coil comparison for yourself. Also take a look at this photo showing all the different heights of 3rd Gen 4Runner coils, Obviously you can see only model 1999 is going to get the full advertised height increase. All other years will get less as the coils they were given by the factory are shorter. Same motor, model, wheels, etc.
B. Spacers placed inside the spring pack preload the coil for lift, make it live in a smaller area, by reducing the area it is allowed to live in you in turn reduce upward travel. So you now have less travel than stock, that is not a good thing when you start with so little. Also making the coil live in smaller area without adjusting your a-arms bump stops to compensate will over compress the coil and cause it to stack and fail at a very fast rate. Ask around and see how many people had coils sag or drop with spacers over time. Spacers placed outside the coil pack like the Daystar 1.5" and the Downey spacer increase the shock length which will lead to excessive droop, as the 96-02 4Runners do not have the droop stops of the 86-95 Trucks and 4Runners. This excessive droop will cause the outer CV to bind and literally rip the star out of the joint, resulting in a broken CV axle and a dead truck. Front shock length is critical on these vehicles. This can be fixed with limiting straps, but why not do it right from the beginning.

So with less travel because the coil will stack sooner, it seems to us that spacer lifts actually reduce the effectiveness of your vehicle off road. The purpose of our lift kits is to gain the lift without loosing any of the travel the factory provided, as they did not provide much to begin with. It's a cheap way to lift a truck, but don't expect much in the actual performance area. If you are looking for a long term solution, I would aim higher than a spacer lift. Our experience with front spacers. Our Experience with rear spacers.

Some more interesting Data about the lift these spacer kits give you. Company One Advertises: 3", Company Two Advertises: 3", Company Three Advertises: 2.5" and Our Kits set at 2.0" all produce the EXACT same front lift in the end. There is a point of no return on the Toyota IFS, you can only go so high or it self-destructs' all good lifts go to this height. Which can be called 2" by some or 3" by others.

I have the 7.1 on mine and run 285/75/16's on mine with a mild rub on full turn while compressed, I'm plannind on adding a spacer to get rid of the slight rub.

I would like to do the 7.1 lift but that website kinda confuses me. Do they just have lift kits or do you have to order everything seperate. How much does the 7.1 or 7.2 lift cost ?

Yeah it is kinda confusing....find the 7.2/7.1 kit and read through all the stuff, I think your lift would cost $1235... a little pricey but worth it IMHO....If its something you really want to do I would give Steve a call, he is really ad cool guy and will answer all your Q's....

Don't know much about the Toytec stuff...but I have OME in the rear, it is is great. I have the 890 in the back, if you are not going to be carrying much a load on the back I would go the 906's.

If you are going to get a 3" lift get the diff drop if after your lift your CV angles are extreme, I did not have to do it to mine, but most people do. Other than that I would look at the Sonoran website and see what parts you can go with or without depending on your 4wheeling tastes. If you are not going to be wheeling much, some of the additional stuff is not needed like the extended breaklines, bumpstops, e-brake bracket. those things are in the kit to compensate for the articulation your lift will have 4wheeling. One thing you should really get is the adjustable Panhard Drop bar, it compensates for the lift changing the geometry of your suspension.

One site you can do some more research on is www.yotatech.com....Technically and mechanically the people can answer your questions better than me, that is where I got my ideas and tech savy from.

Whats the difference between the 890 and 906 ? Im pretty much getting the lift for look and bigger tires. Mild wheeling. Nothing extreme.

Please help me identify what kind of lift and tires is on this 4runner..I really like this setup..

Im going with 285/75r16 nitto terra grappler tires. So if I get the lift you posted and the nittos I will get the same setup as the picture I posted ?

thats what i am guessing, but im a noob myself... it doesnt look like he has more than 3 inches... when you go wheelin, wat do you go in? ive heard those nitto TG's dont throw mud too well

Yeah thats whaty ive heard too. It wouldnt be to much mud. They should be able to handle it. I was originally gonna go with the bfgoodrich at but to damn expensive for me and plus I like the nittos alot.
