Tire size advice for Daystar 2.5" lift

Hello all, I am new to this site. I will be installing a Daystar 2.5" spacer lift on my 2000 4runner SR5 4x4, along with the Diff drop. I currently have 265/75/16 BFG's A/T on stock wheels with no rubbing whatsoever. I will need new tires in the next few months and am considering 285/75/16 BFG either the A/T or the M/T KM2. My question is will they rub with the 2.5" lift and with the stock wheels? Does anyone have this setup now? Or have any advice?

from my understanding it's one of those maybe things, it does on some people and it doesn't on others, most i have seen though is "no" it also has to do with the backspacing on the rims, with stock rims most people don't have any major problems from what i have seen on here.
 
285's are a bad idea with just a 2.5" spacer lift.


stick with the 265/75 (31") to ensure proper fitment

In many tires a 265/75 measures a 32" a 265/70 is closer to 31. Check the specs by the individual tire company.

Hey Liny4runner would you go with a 285 again? Or were there more negatives to positives?

I have the 285's still...but with ome 882 front springs and Land Cruiser SE rear springs AND a 2" body lift

I would never recommend 285's with nothing but a 2.5" spacer lift.
 
What about 255/85/16?? Since they are roughly the same height as the 285's, and roughly the same width as the 265's. I could probably put a 1 inch wheel spacer as well, might help with any rubbing on the frame or UCA, not sure about the fender flare though. Anyways, I know I am stretching this subject since I have already gotten sound advice, I have just had this 4runner for so long and am on my 2nd set of the BFG 265/75/16 AT's that now that I am lifting it I want slightly bigger tires. Can you blame me though!

FYI This is a neat converter I found that compares two different tire sizes, kind of fun just to play around with. Tire Size Calculator great for converting tire sizes.

I had a Daystar 2.5" lift w/ 285s and with some trimming of the fender liners and pounding the pinch welds flat, I didn't rub on the trails. You'll probably need 1/4" wheel spacers in the front though to not rub on your UCAs.
 
granted i have some good bumper clearance up front, and i had to trim the rear bumper... 255's are the sickest tires that fit this truck perfectly. with out illegal wheel spacers, or new wheels, or sticking out of the wheel wells without flares, which would also get me a ticket here in utah.

I have a 3inch toytec spacer lift and LC shocks and coils in the rear

Can you even fit 285/75 on stock rims?
