Need some info on 2006 V8 w/ XREAS & REAS doing TRD Swap

New to the forums, just picked up a 2006 Limited V8 with XREAS and RAS. I was looking to do the Tacoma TRD suspension swap. I came across a great deal on 2013 Tacoma TRD front coilovers and rear shocks with literally 5 mile son them.

Is the front a simple swap out the XREAS coilover and swap in the complete Tacoma TRD coilover?? Is anything else need to be replaced when swapping out the front?

As far as the rear, with keeping the rear air suspension, is it just a straight forward swap on the XREAS shock and swap in the Tacoma TRD shock. I know I have to change out the lower mounting bushing on the Tacoma shock.

Looking for some more info on anything I might be over looking.

Probably not worth it to ditch the Xreas for just a plain old trd suspension. Once your Xreas suspension is toast then start to consider it. You need to read more about the Xreas system in general to understand what needs to be done to remove it.

The XREAS suspension is pretty much toast at this point. No looking for any major lift, as this 4runner will be most on-road. So anything that I can upgrade with to improve on-road handling would be best. Tacoma TRD seems most cost effective as I can get a set with basically 5 mile on the front shocks w/ springs and rear shock pretty cheap.

How do you know the Xreas is toast? Is it leaking fluid? Making noises?

You are correct on the front struts and rear shocks. The front struts will swap in with no modification and the rear shocks will need the lower bushing swapped out. Before you try to disconnect the lines for the XREAS system, the whole truck will need to be in the air with no weight on the suspension. There is a short section of hose from each shock that will lead you to the proper disconnect point.

I did this swap on my 2008 and hardly noticed a difference in ride quality even with using rear FJ springs.

You should end up in the neighborhood of 1 1/2 inches of lift in the front with the Tacoma springs but still have some forward rake.
