It would cost way to much to add it later. Even a comparable aftermarket system would cost better then $3K and still would not work as well. The factory system even has an air drier to keep moisture out.

Thats awsom. In the manual, they say it's for better ground clearence off road. I wasnt sure if you were able to put that kind of weight on it in the high position. Thats really the only thing that my sport has issues with, it does pull a trailer great, but it does squat a bit if its really loaded.
I will be checking priceing today, so i guess we'll see. even though its already more then i wanted to spend a month for a lease payment, if its only like $20.00 more a month mabie i'll just get it. Man, does this stuff snowball..........

Your not looking at the system correctly. The air suspension has 3 settings, low, normal, and high. It is correct that if you put the system in either low or high it goes to normal at about 20 miles per hour. However, in normal mode the system has a self leveling circuit that tells the system to level itself out when you put weight in the back including a trailer. This will maintain a level attitude no matter what you do with the loading of the runner up to a point where your overloading the vehicle. Hope that helps.
If you have a tandem axle trailer, you may want to try moving the car back farther on the trailer to offload a bit of weight off of the tongue. I have pulled a friend's S2000 on a tandem axle steel deck car hauler and when we load the car up there, we make sure to put the car perfectly centered over the two axles... This makes it to where there isn't as much tongue weight and I've never had any sway problems associated with doing this. Total trailer weight with the car on it was almost exactly at 5,000lbs. My Sport didn't squat much at all that way.

There have been a few people on the forums here that have added air bags inside the coil springs that have lines going to them with a schrader valve where you can add air to them before you go towing. With the 12V outlet in the rear hatch, it would be easy to air them up with a portable compressor after you load up to level out the rear suspension. If I remember right, the kit was only about $100 or so.
You may want to do a search for it, as that may be all you need.

That is what I did after thinking of add the Toyota system and pricing it out at over $3000 :awais: The airbags work pretty good, they just don't hold the air pressure for more than a month so each time I tow I have to fill them up again from about 2-3 psi to 10 psi.

The stock system is pretty slick and all automatic tho. I only used the different settings for off-roading and hooking up my trailer at weird angles.....but the auto-leveling feature is great.
Regardless of how well you try to distribute weight; load it up with 4 people and a trunk full of gear and it's going to squat a bit. Hook up the trailer on top of this combo and with a perfectly reasonable tongue weight it's going to look/drive like it's taking a dump. With the auto-level, you just get in, fire it up and it takes care of this for you.
I understand it may not be worth the extra scratch for some people, and may get in the way for those wanting big lift kits.....but hell, if you're getting a fully-loaded Limited with everything else anyways.....why the eff not?

Yeah, but I personally don't think I'd want to leave the air pressure in them when I'm not towing. It would probably make the back end pretty stiff... I'm sure it doesn't take all that long to air them up, probably something that can be done in less time than it takes to hitch up your trailer, check lights, load the car, strap it down, etc....

So, if I could get a little personal here, how much are you guys paying for your leased 4runners> i just priced a limited, loaded but no nav, not sure about air suspension but has the X-reas, its like $500 a month. Not saying its not worth it, but its still $500 a month. Is this about that these normally go for?

I don't know as much about leases, but it amazes me at how many people do this when they finance a car, not even taking into consideration the life span of the loan, the interest rate, or even the most important part, the out-the-door-price of the car itself.
Maybe for $500/mo, they are allowing you a higher mileage allowance or something? You can probably negotiate it down with the caveat that you won't be able to put as many miles on per year or something.
If all else fails, they're always leasing V8 Tundra DC's around here for $259/mo, instead.
