'03 & '06 Retrofit Satoshi Grille Writeup (Picture Heavy)

Looks like the 08 grille might fit on my truck without modification! arty:

Gonna take my grille off now and see.

This is what I've done so far. I went the Jdkilroy approach. Keeping those pieces in there keeps it stronger

Alex i though it was imposible to fit the 06+ grill on 05+ models, especially if headlight are not swaped out?

I just need to do some trimming. It looks promising. I need it to fit around my headlights, that's all

Take progres photos, i'm swaping my headlights and then will test fit the grill. But according to Gaterose, there should be 1 inch of trimming to fit it.

I'm removing this black piece of plastic. That's all that is in the way. When I trim the bottom corners it should sit on the bumper just about.

I'm planning to remove it too, but when i was talking to Matt, he said even if we remove that black piece we still need to trip, well if you will be able to fit without trimming, please let me know, because it is much less work then trimming it.

Will do! I'm hoping to only have to cut the corners on mine to keep my stock headlights. Other than that, when I test fitted the grille on, it sat on the hood beautifully (no width issues) and closed to about an inch of a gap. Enough actually for the hood latch to engage! Only issues were my lights and that stupid piece of plastic!

One corner cut using a combination of dremel and free-hand hacksaw blade cutting

Got the corners and metal subframe cut for the corner removal

Tried that... About 1/2" too tall. In the process of shortening it now

I guess you had to shortened the grill, how did you put it back together. Did you remove that black plastic from the top of the bumper.

Maybe one of these days I will obtain the courage to hack up my old chrome grill and do this mod. All the other ones here look great.

Me? It's a work in progress. There's no mesh! Lol
