03 SE X-reas, thought it would corner better?

I have had my 03 SE for just over a month and I thought the X-reas would have been stiffer. Before I bought the SE, I drove a SR5, and a limited. I guess I was expecting a sportier ride with the SE. It seems to have the same body lean in corners as the others I drove. Is there a way I can tell if its operating properly?

My 2004 SE definitely corners better than an SR5 with much less body roll. Check all the lines for leaks. Maybe the previous owner disconnected something he shouldn't have. Who knows. Remember, it's not a Porsche!

No doubt. I fully understand I'm driving a heavy SUV. I guess I was just expecting more after reading so much here. I will try and get under there and see if there is something going on.

To some people it is more noticeable than others. For my particular driving style, I did not notice a significant difference between the two (and still don't when I get a chance to test drive other 4Runners).

also remember that the tires that it wears will certainly affect handling as well...though lean will reamin no matter what tires are used.

When you buy a used truck or car, there are a whole bunch of factors that can cause a difference in handling.

When I bought it they had just installed brand new dunlops. Too bad I didnt catch them before they put those on I could have negotiated for something better. My previous vehicle was a F-150 extended cab with a ton of body lean in corners.

Is there any way to check that there is fluid in the system without disconnecting anything and risking a spill? I hate to take it to the "stealer" and have them rape me for something that I dont need.

You want your 4runner to handle alot better, put Goodyear Fortera Triple Treads on, it is a night and day difference.

X-Reas if working properly reduce body roll by a bunch. I take roundabouts at full speed with only slight understeer and body roll. When I take my dads Grand Cherokee I cant even immagine doing the same - it would roll over or scare the hell out of me.
