Plus you'll physically be able to see to the left of the steering wheel(Where the Center Diff lock button is), you'll have the "RSCA OFF" button.

That is what they did to me! I took mine in to get the new dash. I was hopping mad, they about had to call security. I asked the service manager and writer what did they not understand about not being authorized to do anything else to my truck. Then I asked why would I want this done if it hasn’t been done in four or five years.
They also filled my washer, I us RainX, they use cheapest crap they can and checked my brake pads (without removing my wheels because I had the lock)… the report said my rear pads need replaced.
Make them put it writing that they aren’t authorized to do anything that isn’t on the list and make them print it out. My mistake by assuming what the tech writer typed into the computer was what I said.

i would have told them to find me a new ecu without the update and install it

16v-065 Recall for Side Curtain Air Bags

So I finally received the letter from Toyota in the mail today regarding the 16V-065 Recall. It states this is the first notice and I will receive a second notice when the, "Remedy is available."

Side curtain airbags standard or an option in 04? How do I know if I have them? Is there a fuse to disable them?

You will also know if you see the image below above your forward O'shit handles. Not on the roof, but on the pillars coming up from the dashboard.

Yup, same here. Letter that tells me there is a problem and to wait for a second letter when the fix is ready.

I got a letter a couple weeks ago on this. but oddly enough, prior to the letter, I got notice from my insurance company.

I hvae them, or at least the A & B pillars say they are in there but dont have the button to turn them off... 03 limited.

I would really like to have the switch as I do rally events and do have a slightly higher possibility of setting them off inadvertently.

For those of you who haven't received the letter, the short term solution is to wait 6 seconds after starting the engine before shifting out of park and driving away. Apparently it takes 6 seconds for the roll sensors to calibrate, and if you drive away (causing the vehicle body to shift) it could mess with the calibration and potentially cause the malfunction.

I'm looking at a 2006 Sport from a dealer, they told me they can't sell the vehicle until the fix has been implemented which is estimated in September.. bummer.

By all means, get it in writing, but I was taking no chances.

I wish I would have done this. I thought they would just do the things I asked, but they chopped my pedal and re-flashed my ECU. I don't think the ECU re-flash will be an issue after doing some research. I made them order a new pedal, but it's just as short as the chopped off pedal. My options are to get used to it or find a replacement on my own expense. I will NEVER go to the Toyota dealer again.

I checked my VIN Lookup Safety Recalls & Service Campaigns by VIN and got nothing on my 04 SR5

Just got a letter from Toyota Canada about this and the fix is ready and available at any dealer.

Anybody had this recall performed yet? How invasive is the procedure ? I’m a little reluctant to leave my 15 year old truck which is working perfectly fine with a Toyota dealer.
