04 heater fail, temp gauge stays put - Please look-

My 04 SR5 is not giving heat, so I came here first, since the more expensive cost of Heater Core is near impossible for me. Also, my dash temp gauge stays in one position, in the middle. No heat, but I hear fan. Are there any further clues I can get to figure out the issue?
I'm hoping it's low anti-f, bad thermo or cheaper fix. I am NOT mechanical (could you tell lol). I would have to use a mechanic, either independent or the Dealer.
Meanwhile, tomorrow I will come back here AFTER I have checked a few things mentioned in other threads about similar issues. Ironically, I am going to sell it, so of course things go wrong. It's been a great vehicle, only one repair and a battery change. I admit to NOT doing much maintenance on vehicle, except oil changes regularly. THANKS.:fishing:

Might have better luck in the 4th gen 4runners section as this is the 3rd gen section. (1996 - 2002)

However, mostly if your antifreeze is full and everything else seems normal. Your heat valve that controls the flow of antifreeze to the heater core is not letting the antifreeze flow through the heater core or your controls are not letting the air flow through you heater core.

As I am not super familiar with 4th gen heating system.

Yah, if it was a toyota cargo van I'd check low coolant, wire being off the heat valve or a bad spider (the dash control mechanics) or a stuck open T-stat.
Not sure where I would start on a 4th gen 4Runner.
