1.25 Spidertrax and -12 offset? Anyone?

So I know the debate on spacers, and it seems that the majority say 'SAFE'. Cool, but... this seems to be with factory wheels. Is anyone running them with -12 offset wheels? I have -12 offset rims, and it just doesn't seem all the wide, especially when I see a lot of 4R's on instagram that look WAY wider than I am. I remember running -12 on my FJ and without Bushwackers it was much wider. I remember the center of gravity seemed much lower.

OPen to all thoughts and experiences.

I suspect you're going to have issues with rubbing even with stock size tires. The further you offset the tire from the steering axis, the worse that will get. Also the further you move the tire out the worse the effects of road imperfections will be. You'll get a lot more feedback from bumps in the road.

It would probably not cause a danger any different from the spacers with a +12 offset wheel. Just poor driving characteristics and rub.

I have 12" wide wheels on my FJ40 with only 2" back spacing. That's equivalent to about a 6" spacer and it's horrible as far as highway manners as a result. I would not want that on my daily driver.

Thanks Jet. I have eliminated almost all rub with the BMC and new bumper. Also chopping the crap out of my fender liners. As for driving, hmm. I did notice when I went to the -12, I had to get used to the sensitivity of the steering wheel. Nothing dangerous, just different.

I'm running spacers on 17x8.5 -10 offset rims, the spacers give the rims just enough poke to keep it interesting...what is your question?

I am running Mamba M-14's with 9x17 and -12 with 275's and a 1.25 spacer. I did a BMC with the sawzall and retained the mudflaps by trimming some of the fenderwell. With some tweaking of my SPC arms at the next alignment I can get forward enough to run 285's next time. With 4.0 caster the truck tracks and returns to center way better than stock!

are you running 1.25 spacers with -10mm offset? what kind of tires? i'm wondering if you have encountered any issues with spindle, control arms or axel based on your off-roading use? or if everything has been fine with no issues?
 
I have long travel up front with 1.5” in the back to make it look “ok” still a noticeable difference but oh well. -12 offset all around. Normal body chop everything is fine. If you do heavy g outs you’re going to hit the flares depending on your available up travel

ESPECIALLY with 33's. my wheel wells are pissed. also running 1.5" spacers in the rear lol:hiding:

no issues at all. Running spacers will give you more space in regards to suspension components at the cost of increasing wheel arc (body mount, bumper and fender issues). I do have a body mount chop, and a high clearance front bumper which solves those issues for me. However, you really only need a BMC. I've been running 285/70/17 the whole time and I've upgraded to rims that have 3.5 BS and -38 offset since then.

2010 t4r. 3" lift, 285/70/17
I have the stock 7 inch rim and like them. I didn't like the way they tuck under the truck so far in. I put on 2 inch spacers. I f_cking love them! 4 inches of wider stance not only looks sick it handles like a sports car and really helps on the trail. Never had a problem if installed correctly. Yes body mount chop required. I have a welder so that was free and simple. I noticed you decided on spidertrack. They are legit but way over priced. The key is to get hub centric and machined from one chunk of aluminum. The ones I found only 120 bucks for a set. Made from the same alloy of aluminum spidertrack uses. I can give you a link to them If you like what you hear! My ride is smooth I don't know what the others are talking about.

As you can see very handy for super fun ditches! Also notice I have clearance when flexed in back.
