1.5" daystar lift, longer shocks needed ?

I just purchased my 99 4runner 4x4 a few days ago. And just shortly after purchased a day start 1.5" lift.

Im looking for a slightly more aggressive look, Ill be honest I wont be doing any serious wheeling, more like toyin around.

Im now thinking about buying new shocks since ill have the suspension apart, can I buy any gas shock setup or should I look into a set made for a lifted suspension.

For a 1.5" of lift you should be ok..there should be enough travel in those stock shocks so save up 'for now 'til you can manage a full set of suspension set up.

By "for now" I hope you mean at least 20-30 k ?

Well if by toying around you mean not subjecting your truck to any kind of wheeling abuse, then 20-30 k is easy...also depends on the current condition of your shocks too.

Only concern when off roading with the added spacer is topping out the stock shocks, but then again it's not like you have 3 or 4" of lift to cause any major concern.

Just ordered a set of Rancho RS5187 for the rear and Rancho RS5763 for the front. Cost was just over 200 for the full set . (fronts were cheapest on ebay rears were cheapest on amazon)
