1.5" rear spring - do they exist?

I'm trying to finalize my lift and the only part that I'm having a tough time deciding on are the rear springs.

I've asked several of you in private messages and have been very helpful. But maybe there are a couple of options that I haven't found that somebody might know.

I'm sticking with 265's and I like my lift to be proportional to those tires. What I believe would look good is 2" in the front and 1.5" in the rear. However, all of the so-called 1.5" springs are either 2" or 1". I've been informed that springs can settle about a quarter of an inch, so if a spring is 1.75 I don't mind knowing it will settle.

The springs researched so far:
Toytec: Eibach 1.5" spring - confirmed 1" lift
SAW 1.5" spring = reported to be closer to 2"
OME 1.5" spring = reported to be closer to 2" but also much firmer
Or go have some custom springs made.

Are SAW's probably the best way to go? I'm really wanting to stick to 1.5" as I think that would give the best look.

Any other options I'm missing? Suggestions?

If you're really set on just 1.5" of rear lift, I would suggest a Daystar spacer lift for the rear with the 5100 Bilstein rear shocks. Honestly, the OE rear springs are plenty firm (unlike the front springs which give the 4Runner a very soft ride) and the spacer lift would work fine. I have the SAWs and got closer to 2" of lift in the rear and they did firm up the ride.

What kind of lift are you planning for the front? I was initially very concerned about keeping to a 2" inch lift in the front and 1 - 1.5" lift in the rear. Ultimately, went with Icon coilovers in the front (got about 3" in the front), SAW's in the rear (close to 2" of lift), and the 4Runner looks so much better. If you're going with an aggressive looking 265 tire, the 3/2 lift still looks great!
 
+1 on the coil spacer for the rear. The rear springs are not too bad and a spacer will give you the lift your looking for.

A couple things to consider:

-my 275's actually look a little smallish with my SAW 1.5"s. So, I don't think SAWs and 265s would give you the "proportional" look you want.

-The Eibach 1" lift in rear and 5100s @ 1.75" in front would give you a nice look with some 265s.......275s would look good too

-are you absolutely opposed to 275s?
 
I have 275/70 R17 BFG A/T tires with SAW 1.5" coils in the rear and I think it looks fine. They may be closer to 2" when first installed, but mind you springs need to settle. A week or so of driving around will probably settle them to a more true 1.5". I haven't bothered to measure mine again but I can do it if you'd like to know for sure.

I'll admit, I don't know much about spacers, so maybe I should research them. I just figured they were good for leveling or getting exactly what you want, but not the greatest for 4wheeling? I do like to get into the back country of colorado so I'm not sure how they would hold up.

As far as what I'm doing up front that is still up in the air, but I'm definitely doing coil overs, just not sure which ones yet. I'm in this endless circle of Toytec > Icon stage 1 > OW 2.0. I did make a thread asking about squeaky coilovers and I'm not sure if that would bother me or not. I did have Toytec coilovers on my 2002 4Runner and I can go pick those up since I don't live far from Toytec.

@KC, I'm definitely not opposed to 275's in fact I would do them, but outside of the BFG's there aren't many AT choices that I liked (one that is aggressive for the mtns). I had GY MTs on my 2002 and liked them, and I think its BFG's MT that comes in a 275 so I might try that next. But for now, its the 265 DuraTracs.

@Briton - sent pm about measurements. KC, I got your's in a PM already. If there are any others running SAW's I would be curious if they have settled closer to 1.5 because if that is the case, it's looking like Toytec Coilovers @ 2.0-2.25" and saw's in the rear :)

FYI, if I was buying 285's right now, almost every option looks great with those and I wouldn't have to ask all these questions. I'm just trying to get a good looking lift with 265's and leaving open the option to go to 285's down the road.

I have a set of these. I ran for about 1500 miles. The are about 1-1.25" lift on the 5th gen. The spring rate is greater than stock, but not as stiff as a OME 895.

PM me if you are interested in them.

I had to replace them when I lifted my front 3". The reverse rake created by the taller fronts required me to take them off and replace with taller rears.

One note I didn't see anyone mention. The top of the Eibach rear springs are not tapered (flat) like the stock springs and OME springs. This doesn't create an issue (I called ToyTec and Eibach to verify), but I just wanted to mention it.
 
SAW 1.5" springs after 6 months

Here's a pic I took today...about six months and 8k miles on my lift (see sig). The SAW 1.5" springs have settled to about a 1.75" actual lift. I think it looks pretty good with my 275/70's. Currently about 37"f/39"r +-.25" at the top of the wheel arches:

Looks great KC. The last I measured mine I was still at 2"+, but I don't have the miles or the time you have but I think it looks great where its at.

Since this was my thread and I've never posted with what I got, but I went with the SAW coils and Toytec coilovers with Bils in the rear. I'm still running the 265 DTs, and honestly I think it looks pretty good and I kept my mpg in the 18 range.
 
Glad you're happy with the setup. :cheers: It feels to me like the ride has softened-up a little as well. You'll like it better as it breaks-in. Did you keep the factory rake? I personally like the rake, and it levels out nicely when I load-up. I'm averaging 17.3 mostly city. I'm trying to fight the temptation to move to 285's the next time around, but don't want to drop the mpg's too much.....especially since 285's are more of a cosmetic upgrade than anything.

Hey Arc,

What do you have your front coilovers set at (i.e. 2" or 2.5")? Have the rears settled at all or are you still at 2"? Any pics?
