says to refer to the Toyota TIS for full procedure. But the pdf cites torque values for all the fasteners in the various exploded view drawings.
Based on all the exploded views, looks like they have to pull the entire dash, including the steering wheel, centre console, parts of the door trims to slide the dash out.
If Toyota is only covering 3 hours labor on these recalls, that is a tough 3 hours.
I'd cringe extra hard for those who have aftermarket stereos, custom gauges and mounts installed everywhere... amps/sound processors hidden inside the dash etc...
I was about to install an Alpine Halo9 stereo too. But I had to get a rear 3/4 side window replaced as my 4runner was broken into in the weekend. When I dropped it off at the dealer, they said... "oh you have a recall on your 2015 limited". I said is it airbag? Adviser says yup and I said, I got the letter 1.5 years ago about it, and to wait until parts are available. "Do you actually have all the parts you need". He said. "One sec, rings up 2 people, "Yup. Want a loaner?"
Going to pick it up tomorrow. Glass job was supposed to be 2 hours. See if they finished the airbag too... I left it with them at 8am today.
One more thing... Do we actually get revised/new design inflators? Or are they the same ammonium nitrate inflators that left the factory and we are going to be needing to have inflators changed out every X years?
