1" Spacer Lift

Thats what I figured! but then I thought, its only a 1" spacer!! So I wasnt to sure!!

The 1" spacer will give you more than 1" of lift , might even be a little nose high.

This is kind of off topic

does anyone know where I can get a 88 T4R rear leveling kit since I'm sure you all know how they like to sag.

Burtman lift 1"

Hey deputy92 - Your truck looks sharp with the lift. I thought I was just about done with my "want to do" list until I ran across your thread. I just ordered the same front spacer from Jason / Burtman Industry and believe I located a shop in Austin to perform the surgery. I'll post some pic's soon and feedback on the lift. Wait, did I say I was almost done with my list?!? What am I thinking... Never.

Even if you put 1" on the back as well?

Snap315 has a 1" all the way around and it looks great IMO. I personally like small lifts , especially if you going to stay with 265/70/17 tires. The most I would do is 1" front or 1" F&R or a 2" F & a 1" rear like Hivel is planning on his truck.

Everytime you alter the height it takes away from the handling , center of gravity ect.... so in my opinion the less you can go the better off you will be . I only want to do this for the "not quite stock" look and a little nicer stance , yes the extra inch of clearance is nice and always helps but the 4R has decent clearance IMO for a modern day stock 4x4 that can actually handle off road. The H3 is rated at the same clearance ( per the brochure ) as the 4R , but the stance is what sets it apart.

I go everywhere I can here off road and yes dragged my underbelly a few more times than I would have liked but never with any damage ( knock wood ).

I think what Deputy did to his truck is perfect. The rear already sits high enough to me .

Ya My Main thing is that I want the front to be equal with the back! I hate the front slanting forward look!!!

Agreed , but a little slant I dont mind ( like deputy did )

After seeing the pics that were posted I too am considering doing this mod. However I have a question. What happens to the front of the 4runner when you are either towing or carrying a heavy load? Does the nose of the 4runner shoot up in the air? or will it stay flat. I passed a Ford Expedition with a lift the other day on the highway towing a trailer and the nose of that thing was shooting straight up.This is a concern for me and I dont want to do this mod and then have my nose stuck in the air every time I tow or haul something heavy.

This is a perfect example of how medium to significant suspension lifts can completely screw up your vehicle. This is exactly why you DON'T want to do a significant suspension lift. People who lift their f250/350's, or SUV's are idiots because they will NEVER be able to tow or haul up to capacity for this exact reason, not to mention, the aftermarket suspension is not meant to handle that kind of weight.

I plan to install the OME 3" lift on my 06 T4R and it should actually improve the towing ability with the stiffer rear springs/shocks. My stock rear end is very soft and almost bounces off the bump stops when towing my enclosed motocross trailer. It should also be nice to get the tow hitch a little higher up from the ground from the stock setup without having to use a riser hitch.

You might be bouncing off of the bump stops because your overloading or overtowing. The reason why your stock setup on all SUV's has a "dive" toward the front is because of towing capacity. When you load your back end up to capacity it should level out without doing the high nose thing that another member described seeing. If you do a suspension lift to either level it out or just a lift overall, you throw this geometry off, not to mention rollover ability, and gas mileage hit. ProMed, if your not overloading or overtowing, you can try airbags to help the rear suspension out. I believe the limiteds come stock with these, but I am sure there are comparable aftermarket ones.

I personally don't care for big lifts on the 4R or on any truck for that matter and I agree with the statements about med. to big lifts.

The thing I like about Deputys lift is that its still nose low .

Even if your truck is stock and you load it enough or tow a heavy enough trailer the nose will go up.

As far as gas milage , handling goes the small front end tweek he did should not really affect anything , granted not what the truck was designed for , but not a big deal IMO. I tweeked up my torsion bars on my 04 z71 Tahoe , not to level height but just an add'l inch , looked much better and actually handled much better because it got rid of body roll and made it much more stable and it didn't feel so spongy.

falls, I have heard of people who have adjusted torsion bars to make lift especially in the rear end of big trucks hauling big trailers. Is it possible to adjust the torsion bars on the front of a 4runner to make lift? If so, what are the ramifications of doing so? Does it throw the alignment and geometry of the front of the 4runner out of wack? what does a torsion bar do? Sorry I don't know very much specific detail on suspension.

Adjustable Torsion bars are on the front suspension and NOT found on the 4R. I've never hear them on the rear of anything that I've owned.

My Tahoe & F150 had them.

Yes you can tweek them and thats what they are for , when you put heavy front acc. on like a plow or something. Technically not for lift , but alot of people use it to get away from the nose high look.

I wish the 4R had them so you could tweek it a little, but since the 4R suspension is much better than the other truck I'm glad it doesn't , if that makes sense.

Any altering an alignment is a must IMO.

ok thanks for the info falls! I heard that 3/4 and 1 ton trucks have torsion bars in the rear for hauling/5th wheeling/towing and they use it so their suspension doesn't bottom out. However, I haven't been able to confirm this info. Seems to me that the more heavy duty trucks and suv's would make good use of the torsion bars.

Jason , wouldn't the 1" lit give you more than 1" . Deputy did the 1/2" and I thought he said he got 1.25 ( maybe I'm mistaken )

But I guess he still was not leveled off either.

I believe it is a 1/2" spacer but it is advertised as a 1" lift. Similar to the 3"/2" isn't a 3" spacer (more like 1.5") but still advertised as the amount of actual lift you will get.
